It's that time of the year VGFers. The Steam Winter Sale hits this afternoon according to multiple sources. I'll use this thread to post updates like I did for the last major sale.

The Steam Winter Sale runs through January 4th! I'll try to keep the OP updated with the daily sales organized by day and price. This should give everyone somewhere to look at the daily deals during their work day. The deals will update at 1:00 pm EST and I'll try to get them posted as early as possible.

A few tips to new Steam Sale buyers:

~ Unless it's on a daily deal, it's best not to buy individual games until the final day. It may hit a daily deal with a deeper discount.

~ Publisher catalogs are a great way to get a large amount of games at a relatively cheap price.

~ When a steam game hits a daily deal, often the DLC does as well.

You can remotely start downloads to your home PC if you do the following:
Log into Steam at home
Log into Steam on the web
Navigate to "community" then view your games
Click the little box to the right of the game you want to install
The download should start automatically after a few seconds

*crosses fingers for Black ops 2*

I haven't played a CoD game since CoD4... i think it's time to try a Black ops game.

EDIT: *braces his wallet for impact*

I'm hoping for a really good price on Civ V: Gods and Kings and Forge, but other than that I think I own everything else that I would have bought already on sales throughout the year.

On another positive note, our VGF group on Steam should see a spike in activity over the next week or two.

Things I would love to see: A Bioware RPG bundle sale(not bloody likely since owned by EA which is a direct competitor of Steam), XCOM for less than $25, A Rockstar bundle that would include RDR which is sadly missing from the store, and Rayman Origins for $10 because moar people need to play that game and this would price match recent deals offered by others.

Make sure you all update your wishlist. They might do something like they did last holiday and have giveaways for your top 10 wishlist items.

What's on everyone's top 3?

I have Fc3, Hitman Ab, and Xcom all in my wishlist. Since 2/3 of those everywhere else have been discounted deeply, I am hoping Steam will have deep discounts on them. FC3 - I want at 29.99.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 20, 2012 5:18:35 AM PST
FC3, South Park, and Secret World

If the walking dead game isn't free, I'd pass. I played through the first episode and it was extremely lame.
I'm waiting for the FPS walking dead game. That thing looks tasty!

I found it really fun. But each to their own.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the tv series, but not the comics. Maybe the game just reminds me of the comics too much.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 20, 2012 6:25:38 AM PST
It all comes down to what you look for in gaming. Many don't consider Walking Dead a game, we had a big conversation about that when it won GOTY at the VGA's. I easily fall in your camp of loving the series, had great emotional attachment and the ending was exactly how it needed to be(being vague on purpose).

I'm hoping for a good sale on Saints Row the Third DLC and Torchlight II. Ys would be nice too. Anything else I get would be icing on the cake.

The gameplay just reminds me of a game I grew up with and loved. It was called Full Throttle and was my favorite game.

I got an email yesterday from GameStop advertising 30% extra trade in credit if you take your credit in Steam bucks.

Good timing for people that trade things in.
