That Emu Kid says:
What Jason said. Everyone else thinks he's Peter Parker, but it's actually Ock in his body, and Peter has died while trapped in Ock's body. It's essentially the first Freaky Friday plot where the villain succeeds. The only thing keeping it from being a total victory is the Peter's memories thing.

I've been out of the comic book loop for awhile now. Didn't they "kill" off Captain America and then bring him back? Or did the Winter Soldier take over the role?

Ha! And you all laughed at my Mary Jane tentacle porn fanfiction!

So basically the villain "wins"?

nope, it happened and he's back alive.

Think Watchmen with more zany antics.

After reading the OP, all I could think is: why didn't they do a what if story where Peter Parker never DID learn about power and responsibility and became a supervillain. Maybe he went back in time somehow to save Uncle Ben only to find out that it results in him becoming twisted and evil. Spiderman vs. Evil Parker. I'd read that.

And Carnage would show up and kill both.

Rofl. Nah, I think Evil Pete would have used the symbiote to create an army of minions...it's what I would do, lol.

Marvel just has it in for anyone named Peter Parker. First Ultimate Spider-Man, now this.

Come on, guys. Be original. Killing Peter Parker is SO 2011.

I read that as REEE! (from Metal Gear Solid)

Got question and it might be kinda off-topic, but I was thinking about getting back into comics. What is a good series to try and get back into?

I've always been more of a DC fan, but I do enjoy some of Marvel's stuff. I'm a big Batman fan and purchase the graphic novels once and awhile.

Suggestions?

It pleases me to see your hopes shattered.

I don't think this is going to go over well with the fans. Remember the clone saga back in the day when Ben was going to take over the roll of Spider-Man after it turned out Peter was the clone. Readers flipped out and stopped buying.

Anthony says:
as far as newer stuff, what i've read of Uncanny X-Force is pretty good. its basically a hit squad put together by Cyclops and lead by Wolverine that takes out threats to the continued existence of mutantkind. some of the guys on the team include X-23, Warpath, Deadpool, Archangel, and Psylocke.

Beyond that, honestly i'm still catching up with the last 5-6 years of Marvel Comics, and other than knowledge i have from the cartoons and movies, my knowledge of DC is passing at best.

Might check that out. I'm a fan of quite a few of those characters you listed.
