new Tron says:
My thoughts too. If you look at this list objectively, its pretty good. And if you can only put one Final Fantasy game on there, there's no denying that VII is the most important game in the series, given how much critical and commercial success it had. I like other games in the series more, but I'm happy to see FF VII on the list.

And FINALLY, someone gives Metroid its props! It seems every "best of" list has Super Metroid on it, and while I don't deny it's the better game, Metroid has become criminally underrated in the last decade, and not enough people give it credit for everything it pioneered.

GUEST!! says:
I remember them running some kind of cross promotion with one of the big soda brands (Pepsi I think?) and thinking, wow! I've never seen a video game make it that far!

Of course, I was a child at the time and children are stupid.

Xavier 7 says:
I hate to say it, but that 1990's list of games looks a whole lot better than the 2000s and 2010s.

I was thinking the same thing...

Not sure why there is no System Shock. That game pretty much paved the way for some of the greatest games of all time.

DVvM says:
Missing Planescape Torment. Remove Solitaire and add Planescape Torment and it's a pretty good list.

Solitaire's not really a "90s video game" anyway.

Excellent choice. How could they forget about that one?!

Shanghaied says:
"M.U.L.E."

List is golden. Any list that remembers to include that game as one of the best ever made is doing something right.

Helps that I agree with most of their decisions. Not perfect but realistically speaking, could it have been?

No Uncharted 2 = fail.

oh god, not this again

Decent list for TIME, and I'm pretty sure that Uncharted 2 wouldn't make my personal top 100 games list either. Apparently that makes me a failure.

where the hell is Skyrim?

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 16, 2012 11:38:41 AM PST
Sure, not every game would make my personal list either, but there's no doubt that Uncharted 2 is one of the most acclaimed games of this generation.

Anthony says:
its Time. that alone invalidates the list.

on another note, orgeon trail has been around since the 70's?

Benpachi says:
This is a list for games, not interactive movies.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 16, 2012 11:39:40 AM PST
Yes. Uncharted 2 is the second best game of all-time.

Iso says:
Agreed. Not that you're a failure, but the UC2 thing...

Behind MGS4 right? Also wouldn't make my top 100. MGS1 and 3 would be right up there though.

I should make my list and see if they do make it.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 16, 2012 11:41:29 AM PST
That's why they didn't include MGS4, the best game ever made (I don't agree that it's an interactive movie, but I know that most of the ADD people in our culture can't sit through a cutscene longer than 20 seconds, so I get why they didn't include it. And at least MGS is on the list). But Uncharted 2 doesn't actually have that many cutscenes...and certainly not super long ones.

Benpachi says:
Just out of curiosity, what was your first game console? I'm guessing no earlier than a PS2.

Shanghaied says:
I am fairly disgusted that Super Metroid isn't on the list, but I'm assuming it's because it's technically a sequel.

Iso says:
MGS4 the greatest game made?

Oi...

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 16, 2012 11:45:27 AM PST
The list isn't horrible, but I find the lack of RPGs disturbing...

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 16, 2012 11:46:42 AM PST
It's not even the best Metal Gear Solid game!
