I'm a fairly pro union guy but the bakers union killed hostess and screwed themselves.

Twinkies going for $8,000 a box on ebay! So, is Twinkies the new "must have" gift this holiday season? I didn't know Hostess also made Sweet Sixteen Powdered Doughnuts. I found out when I overheard a conversation dining out last night, then ran to the store to find some to scarf them down for a childhood memory flashback, and nope . . . alllll gone. Sadface.

Same here, but it's going to be swept under the rug that the Teamsters union signed a contract and was back to work, and the story will be that "Unions Killed Hostess"

So Hostess is asking a Judge to allow them to pay out nearly 2 million in bonuses to senior managers, what D bags.

They should pay 2 million in bonuses to the 18,500 workers whose lives just got ruined.

$108 bucks per person before taxes, lol. Thanks for the memories, Hostess.

It might pay for gas to look for your next career.

So, most people know this "no more twinkies" thing is bunk, right? They're going to sell the franchise rights in bankruptcy court, and someone else will be making them.

This is just a conspiracy to get twinkies more popular than bacon on the internet

If Treyarch becomes the new Twinkie maker, I'll refuse to eat them due to nausea issues.

For some reason I find this particular part of the article humorous.

You guys do realize that twinkies will just be sold off to a different company with better management? Right?

But it won't be a Hostess Twinkie anymore. It just won't sound right...Little Debbie Twinkie? I think not. Pepperidge Farm Twinkie? Puh-leeeze.

Oh no!! Walmart will by the patent and rename them 'Great Value Twinkie'! Oh, the humanity.

Yeah, I pointed it out this morning. I get the impression I wasn't the first.

So rather than negotiate, we'll just lose all our jobs and close down an American icon.
The Unions' time in this country has passed - textbook example

I don't think this one example is a case for why unions shouldn't exist. I do think it was unwise for the bakers union to stike at this particular moment and was the straw that killed Hostess but coming off of 2 bankruptcies and the way the management was handling the company it was really only a matter of time before the company went under.

Even now Hostess is fighting to have millions in payouts to senior management instead of doing anything for the thousands of people they are putting out of work. Hostess was horribly managed and working with a product that people were less and less interested in.

Once they stopped making Chocodiles on the East Coast I stopped caring about Hostess.
