Dang. Guess it's down to watching Ebay for those copies of BttF2 on the SNES and Pulseman for Genesis. lol

Very, very rarely, and then it's usually because they didn't know what it was. You'll occasionally come across import Game Boy games but otherwise, I can't remember the last thing I saw anything that wasn't from the USA, except for crazy Indian video CDs.

Be wary of 'em. As I've said several times on here, Hyperkin's build quality tends to be flimsy. You may be dumping a lot of money on something that feels like it's gonna break each time you use it.

I am holding out for the RetroN 5 before I start trying to acquire a "retro game backlog". ^_^

Any of 'em get import stuff?

Hey says:
I wish you luck! If there's anything else niche-y like that you're looking for, let me know. A few places around town hold stuff for my buddy and me when they get the obscure stuff in and offer it to us first.

You are a lovely man, Mr. Frump. I've got my eye on an auction that's up about the time I get out of work on Monday. May see if I can snipe it before I clock out for the evening.

Hey says:
Wow, those things have skyrocketed! I'll keep my eyes open around town here, though. Weirder stuff has shown up. If I find one, it's yours.

Yeah. It requires 100 blocks of memory.

Is the data just too big to fit in the Sega CD's internal memory?

So... I've run into a snag in my plan for Shining Force CD Joy. In order to save and get the 2nd scenario I have to have a Sega CD Backup Memory Cart. Aaaaaand those thigns are freaking expensive. The Saturn equivalent has a gameshark offbrand version which is reliable, cheap, and opens up importing as an option for your games. The Sega CD has no such thing. >:|

Hey says:
Ah, yeah, the Panesian games. Those things are super rare and pricy. A friend of mine is a hardcore NES collector. I'm pretty sure he's missing eight, with the criteria being the game was released during the lifespan of the console so it cuts out modern homebrews and their ilk. He's been trying to snag those adult NES games for a while, but they always end up going for about a grand. That's a little rich for almost anyone's blood, I'd think.

Hah, amazing. I saw one like that for NES and the bidding price was astronomical.

Hey says:
The most heated one I ever dealt with was with an auction for some of the "adult" titles for 3DO. I mean, it's a system that no one bought and then a very small percentage of people who bought a 3DO were willing to buy digital smut for it, so there aren't many copies floating around out there of that stuff. The final kicker? It's not even porn, it's the really bad softcore late night Cinemax stuff, heh.

Haha, awesome. So far I've not gotten into any outright wars on bidding for retro gaming stuff, but I did have an incient a few years ago where I was trying to get an item to make a PKE Meter for myself.

I snagged a copy of mint condition Wizards and Warriors cart two weeks ago for $5.00. I played it for about five minutes and that's when the nostalgia wore off.

Hey says:
That's what's so frustrating about those old niche consoles. They didn't sell very well in the first place and most of the people buying stuff for them are freaking dedicated and everyone wants the same game, heh. Only a few people looking for them, but there are less copies of the game than there are people who want them. I know I've gotten into some nutty bidding wars on 3DO games in the past.

With case the auctions are runnint $100+. I'd love to have the case and booklet, but I can't swing that. I managed to nab mine with just the disk for $45 including shipping.

I've been playing PS1 games. Just played some Resident Evil Director's Cut Arrange Mode, and some Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX. I'm really itching to go through Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.

I'm guessing Shining Force CD is worth a fair bit of coin nowadays, huh?

Just sniped a lovely copy of Shining Force CD, with inspiration from the SRPG thread. It'd been on my to-get list for awhile, as the second half of the game is the Game Gear Shining Force released in the states and that was my favorite (and only) game gear game as a child.

Been rocking Congo's Caper on the SNES. Got two of the four worlds beat. Guess that means I just have about three worlds left.

While I was in the unemployment thingy, I started working at the retro game store across the street. I'm gonna stay on for Saturday Mornings so I have spending income since my job I start tomorrow (!!) pays less than my old job. Plus the job has incredible perks and benefits like 20% off used items which are already ridiculously cheap. Anything new I'm only paying 10% over the wholesale cost.

Looked at the Wii U and found out that wouldn't net me anything, though. The wholesale cost on that bastidge is ten bucks less than the retail cost. In either case... I'm using the opportunity to keep my ear to the ground for deals for my collection. Today I finally picked up a classic Sega Branded gen 1 3 button controller and a green VMU to match my Dreamcast controller. Whole purchase set me back $6. Feels good, bro.

And I beat River City Ransom. What an awesome game!
