This is a long, 5-page article so I am just dropping the link. A very interesting read if you have the time.

Somebody get a box of Kleenex handy for CGG if she happens to see this article.

I thought it would be one of those things that would always be there to be perfectly honest with you.

It's such a fond memory from my childhood that it still seems impossible that there is no more Nintendo Power.

Damn, this is sad. I still have Nintendo Powers from the SNES era but most of the ones I still have are from the N64 era. I'm gonna miss NP.

Even though I don't read NP much, it is sad to see a magazine that has been cherished by many who have grown up in the 80's and 90's go.

It'd be cool to see a book of the covers across the years.

Iconic. SMB2 itself is an underrated game, if you want my opinion. Cool stuff. I never owned that first one, but the Simon's Quest issue remained a heralded piece of video game history in my parents' home before they moved AND THREW IT AWAY along with 50 other issues of NP. *sigh*

NP was a really cool magazine but it is really sad to say goodbye and at the turn of 2013 it will suffer the same fate as gamerpro did. When they are gone I will stick with gameinformer.

Last night I went to Barnes & Noble and picked up two copies of the final issue. It comes with a poster showing every Nintendo Power cover from 1988 to the final issue, even the strategy guides. Inside they talk about the staff's favorite 285 games on Nintendo systems, a summary of every year of NP, the best subscriber incentives, etc. Well worth picking up.
