The senior staff technical animator will help drive and contribute to the technical development of art and animation for AAA products with a specialized focus on creating dynamic animated sequences, and special effects. A technical animator will be responsible for creating tools and processes that assist in all areas of object animation production to achieve the highest artistic quality, in the least amount of time, keeping hardware limitations and performance in mind. Responsibilities include defining the technical quality standards, overseeing the development of art pipelines, and setting technical production goals. Must poses the ability to collaborate at a high level with a wide-range of development team members outside of direct discipline such as directors, designers, other technical artists, animators, and programmers to achieve the highest artistic goals as they relate to the game design and technological considerations.
Principle Duties / Responsibilities:
Implementing complex animated event sequences that match the intended game design, integrating character animations, special effects, and cinematic cameras when applicable Oversee the implementation of all animated event sequences, working with designers, animators and other technical artist on the best implementation options and giving feedback to improve overall visual quality when needed Develop additional tools and scripts to assist in the development of animated sequences that are quick and easy to use Oversee or create FX as needed to enhance the visual experience and intended gameplay Has a leadership role within the art team, this entails contributing to schedule management needs, providing guidance to support the diplomatic resolution of complex problems, providing input on team performance reviews, facilitating career coaching Trains and mentors other technical artists in developing advanced technical skills and artistic abilities
