I think it's because they want more ratings, since VG's cut into their ratings.

Easy target that is misunderstood.

They have kids. They have seen mp zombify them. Have you ever been playing mp and had someone else ask you to do something? You want them dead in that moment.

From a parents pov.. who can't relate to the experience (as the majority of them played a handful of pong games and then moved on..) they view it as somewhat of a corruption of their child. It's a very attention laden activity. It's just an easy source of blame.

Carlito says:
Extremely easy target. Gamers spend far too much time tearing down the voices that could benefit us as a community and therefore we can never organize or take a second from tearing each others throats out to rebuff these attacks on the community.

They are all Journalism liberals and love dictating what they think is 'right'.

Good luck with that most journalism schools are heavy in the liberalism, and most media outlets are liberal leaning.

It's just the current scapegoat. It is difficult to find the unedited Tom & Jerry cartoons on broadcast TV because they were deemed to be violent. Cartoons still haven't escaped that label and for a while it was comic books. Video games are considered to be especially heinous because they are interactive. Instead of just watching somebody get killed you are actually pressing buttons to make a series of pixels colored to resemble a human "die".

Until we get to the point of interactive holograms you can expect video games to be blamed for everything.

What the hell is a "Journalism liberal" supposed to be?

That's what knowing what goes on in the world does to you. Reality has a well-known liberal bias.

What Punk said. It's easy to blame things you don't know or understand, and video games are an easy scapegoat.

K Archer says:
To the closed-minded (which is the majority of people, especially those in power, regardless of their political leaning) video games are just for kids; they're like cartoons, meant to mindlessly entertain kids in place of their parents.

They don't see them like they are; something that has uses for anyone of any age (or gender).

It also does cut into movie and TV time (and profits)...which is what currently backs up politicians and the media a lot. So they don't like VGs in that way.

Kids play games. The young adults who play games don't watch the news. We are the outsider.

The above statements do not need to be true, they only need to be believed by the media.

YIGT says:
THe problem with liberal journalism today is that they dont actualy tell the news anymore they slant it to a political party. I dont care if journalist are democrat or republican as long as it doesnt show in their work. Sadly thats not the case in america today. Its mostly the left but journalism is in a death spiral. There is no more digging and research anymore its what is flashy and what the political leaders of my party tell me to say. The media is so slanted either way its not even worth watching tv for news.

Not everyone can be fair and balanced like some news organizations.

You and I will agree that TV news is a waste of time. That's what the internet is for, though you need to mind the source here, too. Thankfully, you have pretty much all information ever acquired by humans at your fingertips, so you have some recourse.

VG's and Cartoon's are meant for EVERYONE!!! People that have this mentality shouldn't be allowed to live in the US.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 21, 2012 2:25:49 PM PST
Because they wasted all their time taking journalism classes thinking it would get them somewhere but it didn't obviously and they are envious and jealous of us gamers cause we're so much cooler/better than anyone in the media.

I hate how the liberal Fox News attacks games!

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 21, 2012 2:39:48 PM PST
YIGT says:
True FOX does have a republican slant thats 1 network out of all the other ones. I think its funny that the left gets all pissy about fox but the left has CNN MSNBC NBC ABC CBS CURRENT the HBO news commentary. Comedy central news commentary most likely more. all those against FOX. Now the radio waves are dominated by conservatives and republicans but radio is different if you dont get viewers you get fired. Nobody wants to listen to liberal radio for some reason.

J. Pardee says:
Democrats need that many more though because of how pathetic Fox's broadcasting is.

I like to listen to news radio, like NPR.

It has nothing to do with politics in the least. Like Jason said, it's exactly like what happened to comics leading up to the creation of the "Comic Code". It's a new form of media and it's seen as a children's hobby just as comics or rock music were. It's ok, though because:

Old people die and then the gamers will make the rules ;)

**************END SPOILERS************* will make the same reactionary complaints about the next form of media :(

As ol' Snake Pliskin is fond of saying: "The more things change, the more they stay the same."
