Lasgana: development just started, expected to be done in 1 yr [Nirolak's Note: Since this is the one likely to elicit the most "this is fake" notes, I feel I should elaborate. Given some later points (like already have an internal demo), this seems to refer to EA's normal two year development cycle of a one year pre-production cycle with ~30-40 people and then ballooning up to 150-300 people to make the game after most things are prototyped and planned out. Visceral, BioWare, and a fair number of publishers outside EA also operate this way since it allows you to have multiple projects without cyclical layoffs due to scaling down in pre-production and scaling up in production. For example, during the downtime between Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3, DICE's spare staff worked on making Medal of Honor's multiplayer and helping to build Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. As to what the bulk of DICE's staff worked on prior to this going into production, it's probably either a second project or, once again, other EA games.]

I don't know how legit this source is so all I want from Battlefield 4 is collapsable ceilings. I mean I know that stupid sniper is on the 2nd floor, toss some c4 on the ceiling and blow it and watch the fool die in the collapse. Need internet all time :/ I don't like that.
I'm not trying to be a punk about the source, I just never heard of it before, but I'm sure someone else on the forum has.

Uhh, Battlefield 3 came out Oct 2011, that's 2 years, not one.

If it's true, it doesn't matter that BF3 came out October 2011. It just means that DICE started developing BF4 recently

It's believable since they have been working on Premium & all its content for BF3 until now

Fake rumor is fake.

The leak supposedly came from EA China (lolwut) and was originally posted over on NeoGAF. HOWEVER it is already known that after work was completed on Battlefield 3 majority of the team moved onto their next project while a smaller team was left behind to work on the DLC and manage Battlefield 3. Other information in this "leak" is pretty bad as well like the PC version being locked at 100fps... most out there can't even achieve this on Battlefield 3 so this is clearly wrong. Also the leak is coming from EA China when China bans games that feature the Chinese military. Commander and Conquer Generals and others haven't seen release in China because of this yet the leak specifically states that China is a playable faction.

This whole thing is whack.

People will believe everything.

Yes. BF4 was only made in 6 months! Don't buy it!

Pfft.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 4, 2012 9:14:53 AM PST

I'll be surprised if we see Battlefield 4 release at the end of next year.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 4, 2012 9:42:04 AM PST
I won't, I think it'll be Oct 2013 or so.

It'll be 2 years after BF3 - something they wanted.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 4, 2012 9:43:24 AM PST
They've got a beta set for the end of next year and that's about it. My guess is we'll see a beta run for it and then maybe a spring 2014 release, especially if new consoles are going to be involved in the mix.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 4, 2012 9:49:00 AM PST
Remember the beta for BF3 was literally a month before it's release.

I am expecting a early Sept beta, late oct release.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 4, 2012 9:53:52 AM PST
That was on established platforms though and also there was issues at launch because there wasn't enough space between the beta and actual release. I think this time we're going to see things spread further out and I think EA might back off of trying to be on Call of Duty's nuts after Medal of Honor flopped hard this year.

"Other information in this "leak" is pretty bad as well like the PC version being locked at 100fps... most out there can't even achieve this on Battlefield 3 so this is clearly wrong."

While I don't disagree that this "leak" is probably bogus, plenty of people can get over 100fps on lower settings. Not too many people can do that on Ultra settings, but if you can get a playable fps on Ultra, you can probably hit 100fps on low at a low resolution.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 4, 2012 11:27:58 AM PST
that is an exception games for the most part release on Friday in Europe

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 4, 2012 11:43:02 AM PST
Lower settings and resolutions yes but that sort of goes against the point of having the extra power on the PC. Why lock the game at an FPS the human eye can't even tell a difference in just to lower the overall quality of the game? The trade off makes zero sense.

Yung says:
BF4 will release October 2013...MOH WF proves that EA does not have a problem releasing games with issues at launch, as long as they meet the deadline

I think Dice's focus is to release BF4 on the ps3 & xbox. If it does come out on the new consoles, it just might be released later on like certain games for the Wii U.

I don't think that at all. EA doesn't care about MoH? lol. They offered the BF4 beta just because of that. BF is there baby now, they have over 1.5~ million -paid- premium subscribers for BF3. Can you believe that?

EA knows they cannot beat CoD in day 1 sales. But BF is hands down a better all around game. They just need to keep advertising it, release good expansions like they have been, and BF will continue to be a huge name in the FPS genre.

But I still expect a earlier release than COD10 in October sometime for BF4.
