Keeping a close eye on the changing interests of players is critically important these days for publishers. Failure to do so can quickly bring a company to its knees.

You don't need to look much further than THQ for proof of that. Guillemot, though, says those sort of corporate crises are part of the nature of this industry.

"What happened to [THQ] is something that happens regularly when we have transition," he says. "Some can make it, some decide to go in different direction. It happened with Atari and Midway and also Acclaim last generation. ... It's something that happens in this industry and that's the way the industry consolidates."

As THQ considers strategic alternatives and speculation grows that the company might be putting certain assets up for sale, Guillemot says Ubisoft is open to considering some of them (though he declined to say which most pique his interest).

"They have good things," he says. "We are always interested in good brands. For sure, it's something we can consider, but I can't tell you more."

Ubisoft has been on a bit of a roll as of late and if a big giant publisher is going to buy some IPs I want to do well, Ubisoft seem well suited to do that.

Not optimistic if true. Yearly Assassin's Creed sequels, the super disappointing Far Cry 2, Call of Duty style Splinter Cell's, bad skateboarding and snowboarding games, etc.

I did find myself playing more Ubisoft games this generation than any other. I'm still skeptical from the DRM debacle but I'd much rather see Metro, Red Faction, Warhammer, etc go to Ubisoft than say Activision or Capcom.

Also, I believe they're the only company that publishes Warhammer 40K games, which are very popular on PC.

Darksider is cool. Not much else strikes me. I didn't realize Darksiders was THQ. Thanks.

A few people said it first. Warhammer, Saints Row, Metro, Company of Heroes.

Whatever. I just hope that Metro Last Light and the Stick of Truth make it on store shelves by their intended release dates.

I want to see the French development arm of Ubisoft absorb Volition and help make Saint's Row. If there's anything that can make Americans seem even more debauched and ridiculous than Volition, it's a French Volition.

And I'm not saying I don't like Saints Row. They're doing the job GTA used to do before Rockstar started trying to win Oscars.

Vive la Volition!

Definitely would like to see Saints Row carry on. THQ also does the WWE games.
