Have you guys seen the box art for that new game? Wait...you're busy playing it? Silly me for caring about box art.

Seriously, we are now complaining about box art? Vidya gaym nerds are a strange breed.

How often do you look at the box art? For me, when I open it. Then never again.

I look at the box art when buying the game. Maybe.

Exactly. I don't get the threads complaining about it.

To be fair, very little of our video game conversations really matter in the grand scheme of things. We also have had threads about impressive cover art. Just another facet of games that people like to discuss. *shrugs*

I read the manual, play the game, and stare at the box art all at the same time. It's a lost art.

Cinema Fan says:
I buy games just to stare at the box for hours on end. Then I remove the shrink wrap and trade them into Gamestop for a lot of money.

Hold on, are you guys saying there are games in those art boxes I've been buying? How do you get to them? I hate to remove the protective coating they come wrapped in.

Hey, some people care deeply about the box art. I've been chastised in the past for keeping some of my discs in a sleeve and selling the box and manual on eBay.

You don't keep spare shrink wrap and a heat gun on hand?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 3, 2012 7:08:21 AM PST
Ice King says:
Of course. For emergencies, but true collectors can tell the difference between original shrink wrap and a knock off.

It's those little folds at the corners

Isn't that George McFly on that cover?

I really like reversible box art covers that get rid of all the clutter like ESRB ratings, studio logos, etc.

I look at the box art a lot. While it shouldn't matter, I do get turned off to certain games if the box art is bad. For example: the GOTY edition of Batman: AC is horrendous...and the plain Hitman: Absolution box art is unenticing.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 3, 2012 7:37:16 AM PST
Would you not buy the games because of it though?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 3, 2012 7:38:52 AM PST
GarionOrb says:
If I were truly interested in them, I would still buy it. But if it's something that I'm only marginally interested in, that *could* be a reason for me to pass up on it.

I haven't gotten Batman AC because my backlog is filled to the brim (and I haven't finished Batman AA), but I may pick it up for Wii U eventually. No interest whatsoever in Hitman, but it was just an example.

Just finished Arkham City and I did not like it. The story was uninteresting, moving around Arkham City was a pain in the butt, there were some really annoying difficulty spikes and the fighting got old pretty quick. I really liked Arkham Asylum though, so I'm not sure what happened here.

Soulshine says:
It's been a while for me but I definitely agree about the story. Something about that one crazy night in Arkham Asylum - flying around the City just didn't have the same charm.

Overall I still liked the game though.

What's a box and why is there art on it.

Boxes are a waste of space!

FOGE says:
Its a girls special parts. Art is usually ink that we call a "tattoo."

One day, when your pops tells you about the birds and the bees, you'll see what that space is for.

what the hell are you talking about?

Apparently he is talking about more than you can handle.
