Breeze says:
There are games (such as Mass Effect) in which the player role plays a character they define and make choices for. If the player chooses for that character of theirs to have sex, why not let the player have the character do what they want their character to do?
There are games in which the developers define the characters and envision an epic journey for those characters to go on during which the characters' relationships grow. If the developers' vision includes characters have sex at one point, then why not let them include that in the game?
The only argument I've read so far in this thread against including sex in video games is that it is unnecessary. Is anything about video games really necessary? Tetris doesn't have a plot, so is Final Fantasy a horrible series because it does? Gears of War doesn't have platforming, so is Mega Man bad because it does? Would Portal have been as popular as it is if it was just puzzles and no humour?

cause why would people want to get turned on by watch a character on a video game have censored sex when the gamer can have the real thing with their girlfriend/wife or watch free pornos where real people are havin uncensored hardcore sex?

as several above already mentioned, if it's used (properly) to help advance the game's story

Sha Gojyo says:
yeah, well don't count on it happening anytime soon.

Breeze says:
EDIT: It's less about the gratification of the sexual urges of the player and more a matter of "at this point in the story, the characters finally express their love and passion for eachother."

Sha Gojyo says:
clearly, you know nothing about me at all, I play RPGs all the time, maybe not your kind of role playing, but still, I know the element of "role playing" your talking about and it'll never happen on a console game.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 6, 2012 3:42:24 AM PST
Breeze says:
It does happen on console games. For an example, Mass Effect.

Again in reference to your previous question: it doesn't matter why they want to, the point is they want to, so why not let them?
And just for the record, I'd like to state that I'm not one of those individuals, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Sha Gojyo says:
I was talking about the community hardcore sex RPGs that you can find online to play on PC. THOSE will never be seen on a game console. as for Mass Effect goes, that's pretty much softcore (if at all) as far as being able to see body parts which is laughable to the gamer that's playing it, if they had any intention of getting a rise out of it.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 6, 2012 4:39:33 AM PST
If anything they need less sex.

Next topic.

I agree.

It's truly incredible how much you don't get this. It's okay to like Mass Effect now, it's on the PS3. Please reread Breeze's edit:

"It's less about the gratification of the sexual urges of the player and more a matter of "at this point in the story, the characters finally express their love and passion for eachother."

The sex isn't to sexually stimulate the gamer (though I suppose it would work that way for some people) it's that it's a part of the human experience and there is no reason that it should be left out if it fits within the context of the story.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 6, 2012 6:28:39 AM PST
It's no wonder that there are a few people around here who don't understand that sex is part of human experience, since it's likely not a part of their experience, lol.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 6, 2012 6:31:58 AM PST
Hah! I think it's a part of our repressed society. We put it on a pedestal and condemn it at the same time, when in reality, it's just part of who we are baby!

Posted on Dec 6, 2012 6:33:18 AM PST
Did mass effect allow for same sex sex? Cause that's part of some peoples experience and to leave that out isn't fair either.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 6, 2012 6:35:16 AM PST
Sort of. The Asari are gender neutral but since they can give birth they take on female aspects. So my FemShep always does it with chicks.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 6, 2012 6:37:20 AM PST
I... guess that counts? I still don't think sex should be in games, but again that's just me. As long as it remains optional I can overlook it, or at least give me the option for two males. Though in reality I would probably still avoid it anyway.

There should be more mannequin raping in video games. I think PyramidHead would agree.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 6, 2012 6:40:54 AM PST
I guess I would ask if you think there should be no sex in movies, TV or books too? And if those are okay, why are video games the exception?

Fable 2 spoiler!!

i didnt think it was pointless. My character had a house and a family and in the end had to decide weither to save his family or the world. sex was integrated into the game very well.

I don't particularly want Sex in movies TV or books either, Video games just happened to be the topic under discussion.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 6, 2012 7:10:40 AM PST
That is fair then.

Kr155 says:
Its worth saying that there is a difference between not wanting sex in the media that you enjoy, and saying that media shouldn't contain it at all. The first being a choice anyone should be able to respect.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 6, 2012 8:30:43 AM PST
It's just an opinion mate. I don't think anything needs Sex in it to be enjoyable or edgy or... whatever it is.

Kr155 says:
That's what I'm saying. There's nothing wrong with ur opinion. I agree with u to an extent.
