Mel says:
haha, yep, I just can't get over the cost per KB transferred. Those numbers don't work for me. I'm also tempted to check it while driving.

Blockbuster was better, $6 for 7 day rentals on games. Redbox wants $2 per day, per game, if you wanted to rent a game for 7 days from Redbox, that would be $14...

not to mention, the late fees are pretty hefty and pathetic.

You can get a free month of Gamefly using the link below. It's valid because I'm a current member and looking for referrals, but really, you get 2 games of your choice for a whole month. No obligation to stay on after that month and it's free to cancel whenever.

P.S. Right now I already have Halo 4 coming my way and looking forward to receiving COD: Black Ops 2 within a week of its release date.

Blockbuster still is better. $15 for a month. 1 game or movie out at a time, trade it in for something else whenever you want.

Kirksnowsion says:
I'd very possibly do that if we still had a Blockbuster near here.

Edit: As it stands, though, Redbox is the best solution for me. Don't feel the want/need to rent very often, so just a few times a year at $2 a day works well.

Has their selection and turn-around time improved? The last time I tried out BB's game rental deal, the games were all pretty old, and turn-around time was more than a week (by comparison, GF usually takes 2-3 days).

Yeah, both Blockbuster and Gamefly are all about location. When I was in the DC area, I tried to use Blockbuster, but the shipping time was way longer than Gamefly. If I had a blockbuster nearby, it might be worth trying their monthly subscription. But still, it's nice to have 2 games out at a time (as with Gamefly) and that way I have something to play while I wait for another game to come in.

I'm a sucker for good mouth games.

This is a strictly in-store thing, so the turnaround time is only how long it takes for you to drive to the store and back. As far as selection goes, YMMV. My local one is weird... They never got copies of Amazing Spider-Man for 360, for example.

Renting games through their online service hasn't worked out well for me. There have been a couple I've had in my queue for over a year and never got, so I just stopped trying. We still love it for movies, though.

from what I read, Blockbuster is goin out of business (if not already) because of Redbox and Netflix online streaming distribution.
