Period? - Adventure Time Hey Ice King Why'd ya steal our garbage?
Super Mario 3d Land

Can you rotate your display? The redone HD graphics in Resurrection are even more fantastic when you aren't squishing them into a tiny play area.

My last three purchases:

1) Viper Phase 1 (arcade PCB)
2) Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack (Steam)
3) Ether Vapor (Steam)

Ben, I get the feeling you're a pretty competent gamer. Because all the shmups we talk about... I suck at all of them. DDPR is a great game to be sure. But in some of those later levels, I can barely go 15 seconds without dying.

My opinion (for what it's worth)-- Akai Katana > DoDonPachi Resurrection

I seem to be in the minority, though.

Am I the only freakin' person on the forums without To The Moon? Man, I told myself that I wasn't going to purchase any more games for a while, but if I keep seeing this game on peoples list, I'm going to have to check it out.

When I first I bought my PS3 I bought Lair because of people here and how they made me think it was awesome by writing Lair in response to a bunch of post.

It really depends on what you want, I'll break it down for you.

Akai Katana: Horizontal shmup, (mostly) easy achievements, active leaderboards and a nice tutorial video to explain scoring, super cheap price.

DoDonPachi Resurrection: Vertical shmup, very difficult achievements, no leaderboards (unless you have a UK xbox) or tutorials, higher price since it's an import.

Really, DDPR is the cream of the crop when it comes to these games, but Akai Katana is a lot more fun.

Haha, at some types of games, yes. No doubt DDPR is a very difficult game, I'd say it's the hardest bullet hell game I've played. I'm quite good at these games, and it still took me a long time to get the hang of it.
