Cigarettes are different
They have warnings on the pack and aren't allowed to advertise on TV.
fast food is allowed to advertise on TV, especially targeting kids

IPhantom says:
So your saying that people don't know eating to excess is unhealthy, and that's the difference? Does that justify the riducule of smokers but not the obese then in your estimation?

edit: even putting aside public shaming, do you think they smokers should have to pay additional costs for their insurance and obese people shouldn't due to the differences between cig smoking and over/unhealthy eating?

And yet people still smoke, speaks to the power of tobacco.

I do feel sorry for fat kids, and angry at their fat parents.

Mel says:
yes, people should be allowed to know when stuff is poisoned. But it's illegal to label food as genetically modified or not (for example).

Definitely only talking about adults. I feel absolutely terrible for obese kids.

fast food and junk food commercials target kids, go figure

It's the marshmallow parents that let their kids run the house that are spending the money though.

Frankenzubaz says:
I don't agree that society tends to treat obese as victims. They seem to be the one group that nobody feels bad about making fun of.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 16, 2012 11:18:05 AM PST
Indeed, just the fat people. Gays and smokers have it made.

That Emu Kid says:
Fast food is also really bland and/or sweet, which is what kids love. Adults have a lot of acquired tastes for things that kids with sensitive palettes hate, so making healthy food that a whole family can enjoy is a real challenge. Depending on the age of the child in question, many parents would rather have their kid eat chicken mcnuggets than nothing at all. The tricky part is never letting kids think mcnuggets are an okay thing to have all the time.

Mel says:
kids love those mcnuggets like crazy, lol

I love them too. But I have to say the Morningstar Chik'n Nuggets (which are vegetarian) are actually BETTER than McNuggets. I'm not even kidding.

Lucanus says:
I don't believe in addiction, at least not in the excuse sense of the matter. I come from a long, long line of alcoholics (truly), but at the end of the day if I drink, that is on me. Nobody else. I choose to limit my drinking because of my genes.

I prefer my food from companies that sound like medieval weapons.

McAwesomeo says:
Actually the Morningstar stuff isn't bad. Except for the fake bacon. Facon is the devil. I'd like to point out my profuse apology to bacon after trying it as proof.
