I get a fistful of gift cards from work, based on performance. They have been piling up this half of the year. D:
I mean, I go look at the Recommendations page and the thing on top is The Last Story (August 2012). I do not own a Wii. If they can't think of anything I should buy, how do they expect me to?

I got a $5 credit the other day for buying Prototype 1&2 and the Radnet DLC for $10 total. So I pretty much got all of it for $5. I was waiting for something like that to get Prototype 2, and so far I haven't been disappointed.

It's back up to $90 now. D:

Totally agree. Something almost useless...for Prime members, especially...that costs them nothing. Don't do me any favors, Amazon.

And yes, I know people will jump in saying, "feel free not to buy here", to which I say, "I agree." And when Amazon wants my business, again, they'll do so by offering legitimate stuff, not video credit. Case in point: I just got Hitman Absolution from Amazon because they were offering it for $49.99 and they had the in-game bonuses. First game I've preordered from Amazon in a while.

Yes that's exactly right. I got BF3 for $50 and it came with a $20 credit. Had it preordered forever and I never saw it at that price. Must've been brief.

FOGE says:
BF3 was $20 and MW3 had no discount at all

I honestly don't remember a single pre-order bonus of $25. No way they were that common.

It's all about getting people comfortable with shopping here for anything and everything. Video games was a nice gateway drug for me and many others, now I buy buku stuff from Amazon.

I'm getting tons of $15-$20 credits for my new pre-orders are we even using the same Amazon?

The one game that was close $25 credit was the Portal 2 pre-order. Wasn't it like $54.99 with a $20 credit? That game was awesome

Maybe they were losing too much money offering so many insane deals. They have a few pretty good Black Friday deals and you still get no tax and free shipping.

Amazon two years ago was great. They were ok last year. Kmart was the big winner of my money last year, and while I won't be using them, Best Buy's $20 preorder promotion for nearly every popular game release this year seems to be the way to go.

I think they even went so far as to insult gamers by offering Video credit

man almost every game. I cant remember. every major hit. I was able to score games for free that year. Ive been with amazon since 06(?) and last year was the best for gamers. Ones i can remember with varying credits were gears 3, MW3, battlefield 3 (?),Silent Hill, Ace Combat(?)... just about every game 4 quarter that was hyped really

"Jason says- Buy a Vita! says:
Amazon has been focusing on PC gamers lately. "

So Amazon hasn't been focusing on gamers but elitists?

Which games had a $25 pre-order credit?

T-Hype says:
Amazon, like any company, sweetens the pot until they have the market share / viability that they set out to achieve.

The deals will be back if sales drop off I would imagine.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 20, 2012 11:07:38 AM PST
The problem with this is that very few gamers will keep their business with Amazon just because they USED to get good deals here. They'll go wherever they get the best deal...and these days, that's not at Amazon.

Instead of working on attracting new customers, they need to work on keeping existing ones (including the new ones). In this case, those same kinds of deals again would accomplish both goals.

Amazon has really slipped this year imo. I might start going to gamestop more often now, amazon has been terrible with pre-orders and getting stuff out on time.

Bro, old cool story.

Amazon was selling at a loss to attract new customers. It worked out fantastically.

I used to solely game on console for awhile when Amazon offered the $20 credit per pre-order, plus the 5% gold box deals and other incentives. Then I switched to PC when Amazon started adding deals for the PC. I'd follow Amazon to the ends of the earth.

I think you need to get that checked out...

... I mean hurry up and buy all those games so you can read our posts.

Amazon hasn't been catering to us for years. Their gaming deals plummeted.

They had Epic Mickey 2: Power of Two for $24.9x on the list, then they removed it and a few other games off of the list. Ugh.
