Ok, so this is really poor timing with the Wii U launch and Black Ops, but Im spending 11/13 - 11-20 in Alabama for vacation. Yes, Ill spend most the time on the beach or out enjoying time with my family. But... of course, there will be times when I stay away from the sun to game. So I need advice on how to game down there. Im bringing my DS with Pokemon White, Mario Kart and Zelda for sure. May pick up one more game off my wishlist as well.

Heres the question now. Should I redirect a Wii U shipment to AL? Should I bring my PS3? So big I dont really want to. 360? Dreamcast? Wii 1?

Im leaning towards Dreamcast since I ignore it with my new stuff at home. Plus its small and easy to pack. Or maybe Wii 1 so I can finally finish SMG and a couple other Wii games.

Sounds hard. Handhelds for certain.

Yeah, the DS is my only handheld.

Carry only handhelds. I am sure you can do without console gaming for a week. And don't ship your Wii U to AL and then take it back home. Patience is a virtue, my friend.

I think I'm canceling my Wii U pre-order and going to put that money towards a Model 1911 .45 pistol.

Nice! I like it! Though potentially, you could sell it near Christmas for enough to almost pay for one. I have a Sig Sauer 1911 and I love it.

Well, I was getting the Deluxe ($350) and 3 games ($180) so that was $530 I was going to spend. I found a good Model 1911 on Cabela's website that is about $520, so just canceling the pre-order would be good enough to pay for it.

I want to customize the crap out of it: Picatinny rail, compensators, grips, new slide, new hammer, etc.

High Standard. It has some good reviews, and it's not $900 bucks.

It's also the only one under $700 that's actually a .45 and not a .22. Shooting a .22 out of a 1911 seems blasphemous.

Haha I agree. I could not buy anything in .22 unless Im just trying to get some cheap target practice in.

What part of Alabama are you going to?

As for your gaming, I recommend something relaxing like Harvest Moon for the DS. I wouldn't worry about home consoles, take a break from those and play some handhelds. I *might* bring my Dreamcast if I was in your position, but only play it when you're completely bored of your DS.

If you have the cash and have been wanting one, buy a 3DS and start playing that. If you just want a new game to take with you, Harvest Moon or Pokemon is what I'd recommend.

I might have to get that one that comes with the case, holster and 3 magazines for $950.

Orange Beach, its near Gulf Shores.

Yeah, I pack pretty light so the Dreamcast would be easy to bring. And Id play more fun games like Rush 2049 and Hydro Thunder. Nothing too story heavy.

I may have to check out Harvest Moon. I just bought Star Fox DS. Been wanting it for a long time.

@Fox, yeah, thats a good deal. Mine came with the 3 mags, but no holster sadly.
