Up to this point I haven't been listing the numbers for all of the software sold during the previous week. I included those numbers because it's a slow news day and last week was the busiest shopping period in Japan. Animal Crossing is still a beast having sold over 350,000 copies. This will probably be the first Nintendo title to sell over 2 million copies in Japan.

The PSP rockets back to 2nd and 3rd on the software charts with a new One Piece game as well as an AKB/149 game. The AKB game also brought the Vita onto the charts.

3DS LL- 251,973 (206,973) (N/A)

3DS- 159,323 (112,052) (482,200)

3DS total- 411,272 (319,025) (482,000)

Wii U- 122,843 (126,916)

PSP- 65,869 (33,002) (101,121)

PS3- 47,626 (42,976) (75,943)

PSV- 21,266 (14,446) (72,479)

Wii- 13,049 (10,346) (91,176)

360- 1,689 (1,760) (4,245)

Well Nintendo has been probably their biggest and longest gaming company in Japan.

considering that it's been around since the 1800's, probably a safe bet as to the longest.

lol, Vita back to lag behind PSP. I tell ya, Vita needs to be able to play UMDs =D!

That's actually why I bought the PSP recently, the price has dropped bigtime as well as the physical game prices. I don't really care for digital downloaded games preferring physical copies as well as you can get the entire PSP game library instead of having to see if it works or not with the Vita.

Famitsu already placed Animal Crossing over 2 million because they count download cards while Media Create does not. Here is an amusing GIF that shows the race between several Nintendo titles to reach 2 million sales.
