I have received recommendations and praise for older games from friends that has prompted me to purchase these games and play them. While I have rarely been let down by these games, more than frequently I find that the person that recommend the game never actually finished it.

Maybe I just have friends that jump from game to game without caring if they beat it or not. It just seems weird to me that a game that they so highly praise was not good enough for them to make it to the end.

Can't really blame them. Didn't David Cage have some crazy statistic like only 30% of games are finished these days.

I was never able to beat StarCraft, Dark Forces, or Red Alert 2 without using cheats. I still have fantastic memories of those games.

I'm perfectly capable of enjoying a game I haven't finished yet and telling people about it. That's pretty much entirely what VGF game impressions threads are about.

There are a lot of reasons people might not have finished a game. I still haven't finished The Walking Dead. It's not because it's a bad game, it's because I have to be in a certain mood to play it. But I can certainly tell you after three chapters that it's a good game.

I guess I would not be surprised if that is true.

Well, they enjoyed what they played but gamers' ADD is a real and serious disease.

I've never actually finished RDR but I'd recommend it. It was a great game and I had a lot of fun but after 20 or so hours I was ready to move on.

I've finished well under 30% of my games. I don't think I've even played 30% of my games. I'm hoping I don't buy into the next gen so I can be content and play the games I do have.

The worst is praising games that aren't even out yet. I see a lot of that

The Last of Us is going to be GOTY 2013. 11's out of 10's across the board. Cause Sony and Naughty Dog know what they are doing.

Well ND's combat design can only get better, amirite?!

Maybe it is just strange to me as I am sort of obsessive compulsive about finishing games I start.

I figured this would be about games that are relesed unfinished, like everything from Bethesda.

I am the same way, I refuse to usually even buy a new game before I finish the one I am on. One game hasn't been finished in my collection and that is BioShock 2 because I just disliked it that much. Usually that doesn't even stand in my way, no matter how annoying I will beat a game just to beat it or I will have a nagging feeling until it is done.

Over the last few years, I'm at a 98% completion rate for games. Before that I would play a game, get to the middle or so then stop and move onto another game then never come back to the first game, repeat.

I only bash unfinished games, because the reason why I don't finish them is always because they suck.

I used to be the same way. Still the same way with books.

I went over to a friend's house and used his time machine to play it. The controls were clunky.

Should have said it was going to be riddled with bugs.
