OT: Best Hard Science Fiction

What is some good hard science fiction? I mean that in all mediums, whether it would be books or film. No Video Games, since it's pretty obvious there is not a single hard science fiction video game available (which is not a bad thing, it just means no video game bases its fiction on rigorous technical detail).

For me, anybody needs to read Peter Watts. This guy is absolutely brilliant. You can find his novels online. Blind Sight is one of his best, there's even thirty pages of annotations at the end.

Promoting your own book are you?

Peter Watts is in his 50's, I haven't even graduated college yet. I'm not a biologist, either. You're pulling my leg with your post, are you? Come on, you have to be.

Larry Niven's "Known Space" books, specifically Ringworld.

Ringworld (A Del Rey book)

also, Ben Bova's "Asteroid Wars" cycle (not quite a series, but more than a setting)

You don't fool me Peter Watts.

Prove it, then. Back up your claims. I assure you will fail.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 7, 2012 4:17:01 PM PST
Peter, it is against Amazon's rules to promote your own book.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 7, 2012 4:32:13 PM PST
It's also against AMazon's rules to post harassing bogus claims to other customers.

I would advise you to delete you original post.
This is your first warning.

ROTFL. I see you still haven't substantiated your asinine claims.

You do realize that Peter Watts doesn't need any promotion, right? He's won tons of awards and is a nationally recognized author within the sci-fi community. Not to mention his books have already made it into the academic circle as required text.

This is your second warning.
I will give you until sun-up, Pacific Standard Time, so you can sleep in.
If you have not deleted your original post, I will report you.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

Dune, 40th Anniversary Edition (Dune Chronicles, Book 1)

First 75-100 pages are difficult to get through, but if you make it, this is one of the best sci-fi books you'll ever read. Has a lot of relevance in terms of current events as well, strangely.

Also, 2001: A Space Odyssey is a personal favorite. Clarke has always done a good job of trying to use real, or at least highly plausible science in his works. This is the best example.

Saga, Vol. 1

Y: The Last Man, Book 1, Deluxe Edition

You should check these out if you haven't read them yet. Not really "hard sci-fi" but it's sci-fi none the less.
