Backlog: 37 to 39 [+2]
Time to Complete: from 46D 1H 20M to 47D 8H 53M*
*above time from

Yes my backlog went up thanks to a preemptive B2G1F I could not pass up on, especially with the titles I've been wanting. At least my 2011 wishlist is nearly complete, barring 1 or 2 game left.

DEMON SOUL - AWESOME game, surprisingly didn't miss much items playing blind, tho lots of crystal lizards escaped. I missed out on 5 weapon upgrades, 2 of which should be easily remedied with chunks dropped on NG+. Missing pure moonstone, demonstone, and bladestone for the other 3, we'll see how annoying that gets.
Month 10 Evaluation leading up to 6/15/12:

- most # of total backlogged game intending to beat:
- most # of games beaten in 30 days:
- most # of games purchased in 30 days:
- Backlog equal to or less then in the past 30 days:

Games Purchased in the past 30 days: 2
1. Dragon Age II - $8
2. Dead Space 2 - $8

Games Beaten in the past 30 days: 8
1. Super Metroid
2. Ico HD
3. PixelJunk Shooter 2
4. Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal
5. The Munchables
6. DJ Hero 2
7. Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare

Backlogged Games: 41 to 37 [-4]
Time to Complete: from 25D 14H 07M to 26D 15H 13M = [+1 day, 1 hour, 6 minutes]

I'm going to shift to "Main Game" completion in my preferences, though, since I have a lot of games that don't list times for the "Main Game+".
New Time: 20D 04H 37M

Yep, my backlog had a bit of an increase in overall time as well.

All of these completed games were very short; none took longer than eight hours, except for maybe Undead Nightmare. I'll probably move on to Back to the Future: The Game next. It's supposed to be about 10 hours long, but since it's broken into different episodes, it accounts for five games on my backlog list according to After that, I'll probably take on one of my longer games - Final Fantasy XIII or Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, which will knock off a couple of days. Of course...that will probably take me the entire month at least.

Still Kirk, -4... Niiice!

Kirksplosion says:
True that. And it'll be cool that just playing through the 10 hours or so of Back to the Future will knock it down by another five.

I'm glad we got this progress report out there before Black Friday. The December progress report will not be so pretty.

Athas says:
Heh, I picked on most of the games I intended to pick up on my last B2G1F, so I'm mostly good for Black Friday.

... course, I say that now. We'll see then.

Kirksplosion says: wish list has almost 40 games in it. It's almost this pseudo-secondary backlog that I have. If a game gets cheap enough, it moves to my primary backlog.

11. Super Mario 3D Land ($39.99)

Games Beaten in the past 30 days:3
1:Duke Nukem Forever
2: Doom 3
3: Quake

I made the mistake of catching a quick addiction to the F2P DCUO creating a character on Steam (villain) and another on PS3 (hero) . I also hit over 50% complete in GTA 4, I never played that far into the game when I first picked it up on PS3. It should be done by next month, If I don't get too distracted by Skyward Sword.

Kirksplosion says:
Hey, while we're on the subject, which do you prefer? DCUO on PC or on PS3? I'm mostly curious about controls, but any other insights would be appreciated.

Resistance 3 multiplayer has slowed my backlog progress. Oh well, I'm having a lot of fun, so it's all good.

I play both with a controller so they're roughly the same experience, I can get into a steam game much quicker than a PS3 game. So I just kept playing on steam.

heh, your #3-10 is gonna look like my MGS purchases once I buy the HD collection and download the first title from the PSone.

I have a gruding admiration for Kojima(creator) for the number of times he managed to make me buy and rebuy the samn damn games for different systems. No other series made me do so.

Yeah I fell for the ID/Bethesda complete QuakeCon collection back in August that included somewhere in the realm of 40 or so games (all the Dooms/Elder scrolls + expansions). My backlog is screwed, but it's nice to have digital versions of these games as discs & CD keys sometimes go missing over time.

Crap, I also picked up 12. Bioshock 2 for $4.99 over Halloween

2) Yakuza 3- Ch 12. Kazuma you manwhore. At least Geralt has disease immunity & can't impreganate anyone. Loving the variety of minigames, ranging from: card games, golf, bowling, dating sim, arcade style fighting, sidescroller 2d action, & more.
3) Final Fantasy II - ios, updated graphics and touchscreen version.

Backlog: 39 to 47 [+8! @_@]
Time to Complete: from 47D/8H/53M to 53D/21H/1M*

To sum up - Post Traumatic Black Friday/Cyber Monday Syndrome. I'm feeling it.
Silver lining is that I won't be purchasing anymore current gen console(aka ps3) titles any time soon. At least until Harry Potter year 5-7, Dark Soul, Yakuza 4 falls under $20...

On the other hand, I was gifted with an Ipod chock full of games, ranging from fun & silly(angry birds) to 'real'(FF1-6) games. I'm doomed lol.

7-8) Cthulu Saves the World + Breath of Death VII - $1 (Steam)
9) Bastion - $5 (Steam)

15) StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty - $30 (Amazon)
16) Deadly Premonition - $12 (Amazon)

Games beaten last 30 days: 5
1) Frozen Synapse - Had lots of fun with this bite-sized strategy game.
2) Trauma - Not much of a "game" precisely, but it's an interesting experience.
3) Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Enjoyed it thoroughly. Amazing set-pieces, fantastic characters and drama.
4) Back to the Future: The Game | Episode 1: It's About Time - Was really slow. I loved playing as Marty Mcfly and hanging out with Doc Brown, but I was regretting the purchase until...
5) Back to the Future: The Game | Episode 2: Get Tannen! -...I started playing this one! Finally it starting digging more into trying to fix timelines and avoiding contact with one's past self. Playing Episode 3 now, and still enjoying it.

Backlog: 37 to 43 [+6]
Time to Complete: from 20D 04H 37M to 22D 22H 10M

So many games purchased. Fantastic deals on all of them, but it definitely adds to the pile. I also bought the Humble Bundle which includes four games I haven't played, but I don't know which ones I'll actually play through, so I haven't added any of those. Also haven't received some of these games yet, so they haven't been added.

On top of my growing backlog, I probably put more time into multiplayer stuff with my friends over the past month than anything else, so the backlog climb has slowed to a crawl. And of course I bought a 360 that I'm waiting until Christmas to open. That'll add even more to the ever-growing backlog. I think I'd have to take off work...and husband/father duties for about 3 months to actually clear it.

Comment: This is to be expected as all the great holiday sales go. Its good to have so many good games to play for next year. Plus I can save money by not buying any (we'll see) games for a couple months. Trying to hold out for GTA V, Far Cry 3 and Skyrim (when cheap)

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 14, 2011 8:05:07 AM PST
Athas says:
Well we all knew this month was going to be painful. As Drizzle succinctly stated, "Damn Sales" indeed.

But whoa, -5 good for ya Kirk (or Kris). That beat your old record from previous month, if I'm not mistaken. Much better then my... 0 beaten games, by a long shot.

I have no excuse. Yakuza 3's mini-games and optional substories have streched what should have been a ~25 hour game into a 80 hour rpg esque marathon.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 14, 2011 8:09:21 AM PST
Kirksplosion says:
Why, thank you, sir. It's a bit misleading, though, because Back to the Future is something like a 10 - 12 hour game, but split up into five different episodes. has it broken into five different selections, though, so I just followed suit. So basically that "5 games beaten" boils down to maybe 25 - 30 hours of game time, sadly.

And that's a perfectly viable excuse! Haha. At least it would be for me. I'm all about spending hours and hours on sidequests and optional stuff in those types of games. It just doesn't feel...complete unless I do.

Well...the winter Steam sale usually picks up around the 20th, so I can't make that promise to myself. After that, though, I'm hoping to hold off until Mass Effect 3.

Wait, did your hours really go all the way down to 12D 22H 10M?! Or is it because you listed games no one's beaten on the site yet?

I might be susceptible when GoG introduces newer titles starting next year, but more reason why I should be good for this marking period.
