It's a confidence thing. They spoke about why the portland shooter wore a mask - it's like they get geared up and wear those things to adopt some persona of "guy who's gonna shoot everyone". So less about stopping bullets and more about putting on the vest to get ready. It really is sick.

You are a sane person(as far as I know), so it makes sense to assume that. I'm not so sure that's what's going on in their minds though.

R. TypO says:
If it turns out that video games made up part of the fabric of this person, then perhaps, though I don't think anyone but a few extremists would actually solely blame something like games, just as some people will come to other misguided conclusions about the 'cause' of this tragedy. But, when looking at this person, if he played games for 7 hours a day, or if he watched a certain show/movie over and over, or was compelled by a band, song, book, whatever, the things that came together to make up this person's thought processes cannot be ignored. That would be a disservice to understanding the truth. That does not make those things the reason, or cause.

People are more complicated than what we, the news, authorities, anyone really, reduce them to in order to try and understand or make sense of their motivations. It's about a person getting so lost and disenchanted with reality that they were able to think, plan, and ultimately act on something darker than bleak, terrifying, something that ruins lives, and destroys our idea of where we are safe.

In regards to those who spout off inappropriately about gun control after tragedies, knowing that these dark shadows of society are out there, waiting to strike when we are the most vulnerable; it gives me a sense of hope, and confidence to know that if I am armed, and others around me are as well, when these people strike, I can protect the ones I love, and the society that I care about.

Yeah, I suppose that sounds fitting. Just dressing for the occasion. It's weird how the mind works(or doesn't).

So, a friend on my wife's facebook just posted an article. The shooter, 24 year old Ryan Lanza's mother worked as a teacher at the school. She is now deceased.

I love my job as a teacher...but I hate being in a completely defenseless position with a room full of kids. This story makes me want to hurry along my application to PA school.

So maybe I am late to the party, but the guy killed his father, drove to the school and killed his mother (she was a teacher) and most of her class... wow. I don't have the words.

depression shooters are only affected by the brain psycho for a few hours, so this guy had something else besides depression

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 14, 2012 12:02:52 PM PST
This is one of the many reasons why i'm pro slap these kinds of people in a Saw movie inspired device that horribly mangles them in the most long drawn out excruciatingly painful manner until they die.

.... did he shoot his kid?

EDIT: Wow...

Other networks reported that Lanza killed his father and his mother, who worked at the school, along with many of her young students. Police did not immediately confirm details.

So he killed his father at home, drove to the school, shot his mother, school officials, and trapped and killed a good amount of her class.

This entire thing is so wrong. Everything about this is wrong.

He apparently had a kid at the school. Did he shoot his own kid too?

Well wow, that guy needs help.

Or someone hacked his account, which is more likely.
