Thank the sweet, buttery Jesus! Those load times can be atrocious!

http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/19/next-wii-u-system-update-due-late-december/

The Wii U launch didn't go quite as smoothly as consumers would've liked, with a major update to sit through right after unboxing, and support for various video streaming services absent on day one. Well, head honcho at Nintendo Satoru Iwata has taken to YouTube and announced from his cream studio that the next system update is due late December. It's primarily being pushed out to improve the frustratingly slow software loading times on the new console -- an issue we highlighted in our review.

Awesome news, thanks for the link. The U certainly can use some OS improvements. :)

Sweet. It's pretty damn cool how much you can do while simply suspending the game, but those load times between mini-apps are definitely a buzzkill.

And while they're at it, get that browser working with Youtube again, because the actual Youtube app sucks ass compared to it.

Hopefully, they will send an update to the eShop to make it more user friendly.

If I'm not mistaken, this issue was supposed to be fixed with the second big patch! Oh Nintendo, you better step your game up soon.

The second patch most certainly did improve game loading times. I believe this third patch is to improve loading of apps along with adding WiiTV support. I hope that clarifies the situation. Happy holidays. :)

Does the update let 3rd party publishers care about bringing their games over to Wii U instead of ignoring it?

If only their update allowed fanboys to grow up. :)

Edit:
I apologize for being mean, but am just tired of the back handed jabs towards a console. I really don't understand why people fight over consoles. If you like it, play it. If you don't like it, don't play it. Anything inbetween confuses me. :)

Just tried it today and YouTube is working fine in the browser.

Did you check out WiiTV or is that a later update? I am still a bit confused at what it does. Thanks for the information in advance Jason. :)

Nice to see that Nintendo is working on it. Makes me feel more positive that they will try to get into the 21st century with their online infrastructure.

I didn't even think to look for TVii. I'm not into watching TV on game consoles, sorry. I'm sure my wife will look for TVii later today and try it out.
