Weird, i'm told over and over again that they only give out 9's....
Anyways, solid review if not a bit depressing. Sounds like a lot of interesting pieces that intrigue me to the point I'd 'try' it but a shame the meat of the game sounds so redundant.

Jon says:
Seriously. They had nothing but good to say about it, even after they got their consoles, yet they give it a 6?

You should see the Youtube videos of certain reviews for this game. The SDF is out in force, it also seems as if they're overpowering the N fans. But the reason for that is simple, the N fans are too busy playing to participate in a flame war.

Why do people who're not going get, was never going to get, and are not interested in a product seem to care the most about it I'll never know.

Of course IGN was going to give this a bad score. IGN is possibly the worst review outlet for games that are niche or have a limited audience.

I mean, they gave Etrian Odyssey 3 a 6.0, they gave Deadly Premonition a 2.0, God Hand a 3.0, et cetera (all of these are games I would personally rate at least a 9). They're possibly the worst outlet to review niche games, since they don't seem to understand niches.

If you're a bland mainstream shootingfest, IGN is going to love you. If you're a game that some people will love and others will hate, then IGN will hate you.

Agreed, there are flaws with this game, but it's obvious that the game is not for everyone. If you go in expecting RE6 or L4D you'll be disappointed.

For people who actually want "survival horror" Zombi-U is, by all accounts, much much better than RE6.

Zen Kaizoku says:
You misunderstand my point. I'm saying that RE6 is in no way a good representation of the "survival horror" genre. Reviews aside, certain persons are going to see a gun, see a first person perspective and think 'Cool this is a game for me' without understanding the game's intricacies.

Then be disappointed in it when they begin digging in.

6+3=9

And the review described the game exactly as I imagined. A typical launch game that would be considered crap if it came out a year from now. Really sad to read the graphics are lackluster.

This will be a game I pick up eventually....good thing about buying the system and not having access to it until Christmas (Kids present)....you get to see how the launch games ended up....I did go ahead and pick up Mario as I was confident it would rate as high as the others.

Greg is one of the most liked, if not most liked IGN editors. He's also hated for being liked and just being overall fun.

Yup, been playing for 4 hours and the only melee weapon is the cricket bat. I was told otherwise yesterday. :/

The concept is good but the graphic is just not there.

If you want a good game, that's somewhat zombie like, wait for Dead Space 3 in Feb. But, sadly wont be on Wii U at this point.

Jon's 1 minute review.

Graphics seem hazy. Controls feel slightly off. I dislike having ABXY below sticks (nothing against the game though). Very suspenseful from what I've played. Focus seems to be on avoiding combat or getting zombies by themselves. Very, very awesome when you're forced into a situation in which you must think fast on your feet how you're going to avoid the situation or take down enough zombies to escape. Man, I love it so far.

I don't know why, but my brain is rotating the controls in my minds eye. I try to go down to press X and end up pressing A all the time. Hrmm.

The graphics aren't good? Right... Tell me agai. Why Super Mario Bros on NES is one of the best games ever....

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 18, 2012 2:27:21 PM PST
When did I imply that it was? I haven't played RE6, but by most accounts it's one of the single most disappointing titles of this generation.

It's just that Zombi-U is actually a survival horror game, which isn't a genre that really gets made these days.
