Would it bother me? Yes.
Will I buy? Yes again.

I have no plans to buy PS4, or NextBox.

Well, presumably they would just make it so you can't start or enter a new game after your time has expired.

I would rather them require Plus for MP than this. What if I'm playing with someone and their time expires during a mission? My team has an automatic handicap.

Nothing has been confirmed at this point.

DVvM says:
The interesting scenario would be the compromise situation where free users get a limited number of hours of multiplayer for free, but are cut off beyond that without a paying subscription. That would technically be a way to technically "offer free online MP" but still wrangle people into subscriptions.

Because they just read the first post, then reply, then read the last 5 posts and get into the argument without realizing that it's basically been confirmed that Sony will continue to offer free, online MP with the PS4.

I'm interested in how I would feel about this if I actually enjoyed online multiplayer. Personally, I'm kind of hoping that it just goes away, but that's not going to happen.

Yes. Just because I have a sub doesn't mean that everyone does. Nothing as core to gaming as MP should require a paywall beyond what has already been passed by purchasing the software, the hardware, and the internet service. Oh, and the electricity for those who are really trying to stretch it.

DVvM says:
The supposition is "what if the PSQuatro puts multiplayer behind a paywall (which is whatever PS+ morphs into)?"

So if with the PSQuatro, you can't play multiplayer without a PS+ subscription (which still gives free games and discounts) is that going to be a problem for people?

FOGE says:
The multiplayer is free. The payment is for Plus which gives you games every month. WHy are people still not getting this concept?

No PS+ for me, no paying for multiplayer.

Im more hoping that This goes the other way. I want to see MS drop the paywall for online play and offer something more substantial for the money.

I dont want to pay a fee next gen. If I have to go back to PC then thats what I'll do.

DVvM says:
It's not a dealkiller for me, since I don't even play non-local multiplayer.

I can see why it would be a problem for others though.

Jon says:
If it is bundled with PS+, yes. If not, I'll stick to singleplayer on consoles and mutliplayer on PC.

i took the bet that he made. he was the one unable to provide an official source.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 20, 2013 10:21:17 AM PST
For him to have lost the bet, that means that it was made. Did you take the bet?

then list the official site (MS, Xbox.com, MN)...otherwise run along

I wont respond to your post unless it has an official site backing up your claims of the bet you lost.

So pay up!

"Only console fans are okay with this."

Whoa, buddy, only Xbox Live Gold subscribers are ok with this. There are plenty of console owners who are not ok with this.

Sure, I can. You just don't have the guts. Now run along.

Not sure. If the system is $500+ and then they want me to pay for multiplayer, no thanks.

Multiplayer on PC is free. Only console fans are okay with this.

yes MN is a blog, but he works for MS, so thats official.

Lets get real here..you cant back up your claim with an official source. Which means you lost the bet.

Just $50? Oh, no. I had multiple $50 bets in mind.
