A lot of the current gen JRPGs I think are some of the most heinous offenders for bad mo-cap.

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 1, 2012 10:27:54 AM PDT
Well luckily I'm not exposed to that. I think Rango and the Uncharted series got it right, film the entire scene with the actors and then have the animators just use that film as reference.

I guess I should clarify that I don't like mocap with those little pingpong balls all over the suit and face. I know The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was a different type of facial motion-capture and it was amazing.

Yeah, the pinpong thing can lead to what I call "Mascot Mocap," especially in cases where the character's proportions don't match up to natural human proportions. You don't account for that, or just animate by hand, and it looks like the dude isn't a dude, but some guy in a freaking mascot suit.

Nobody F's with Tony Jaa or his Elephants.

I just got back into the office and got a few hours to kill until I have a meeting this afternoon. This is like my last week of full work and I'm just not interested in doing any of this.

@ Mogwai

I can see that now lol, haven't heard of him before.

I would run in the opposite direction of any shirtless Badasses screaming "WHERE ARE MY ELEPHANTS?!" over and over again.

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 1, 2012 12:05:41 PM PDT
That's the worst... Thankfully when I left my last company, I put in my two weeks and my boss just said "Say, how would you just like to - you know - quit. Now?"

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 1, 2012 12:11:10 PM PDT
What I would give for that option right now. To make things worse my buddy is taking my spot so anything I don't do on my way out he is going to get stuck with.

That and I had Popeye's for lunch which I instantly regret lol.

EXTREME SALAD!!!!

I've never been big on martial arts flicks so I know very little of the actors outside the big ones like Jet Li lol. Just recently I learned about Ip man and I guess that is supposed to be one of the best martial arts flicks around.

@ Guest

Well hopefully you make a better choice than I did lol. I knew there was a reason I don't get fast food that often.

Man, that scene. Just. Oh man. That scene.

After seeing that flick in theaters, I was showing that scene to every friend with two eyeballs (which left out ol' Joe, of course). I sometimes had to explain that it was one continuous scene with no cuts, but...oh, man, that scene.

Kirksnowsion says:
Now that was the most awesome scene in the movie. This was the most hilarious. By far.

I know in my head that they aren't actually breaking all of those bones but man, every bit of that scene looks painful.

Kirksnowsion says:
Absolutely. It all hurts. All of it.

I do love how they just keep on coming, too. After the two minute mark or so, I could not stop laughing when watching it at the theater. Ludicrous in the most awesome way.

You have to wonder what goes through the head of a henchman.

"So this guy has completely demolished the last 20 people who have attacked them no matter how many attacked at once and almost every single one was left with at least one major bone broken if not several...but I'm feeling lucky."

It doesn't seem right that I've been faithfully reading it for ten years now, but it is. I'm glad that when I jumped on there were only two or three years of backlog for me to get through.
