Amazing game. I finished it yesterday. Easily one of the best of the year. By far, the best shooter.

PC, my friend.

Got a new video card and it was worth it (Far Cry 3 came with it free).

Buddy on here told me that on his 6870 (same as mine, copied my build) that Far Cry ran on everything high at 30+ fps so I think ill be fine. My girl is getting it for me on PS3, I will buy it on a steam sale sometime down the future for my PC.

Not as good as I thought.
It's a little too slow of pace.

I forgot you don't like games that require attention spans.

So, is there character development RPG style in this game? XP, Stats, Skills, etc....?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 16, 2012 12:36:46 PM PST
elect Tron says:
Yes there is. It's pretty simple and streamlined, but a lot of fun. You get XP for each kill, for finding artifacts, and for completing missions, which turn into skill points once accumulated, which lets you populate 3 different skill trees. The game throws so much XP at you that if you're even somewhat of a completionist, you'll max out all your skill trees well before the game ends.

There's also a lot of crafting that needs to be done. You craft stuff from plants and animal hides. It's pretty cool...it gives purpose to everything you do, rather than just to pad game time.

The 7950 runs it silky smooth, but it doesn't run so hot with Direct X 11. Very choppy, that.

I drop it down to Direct X 9 and it's perfect on high settings (there are two other settings above high for reference).

Sweet! I'm entertaining the notion that it'll come down another $10 soon. Then, I'll probably snatch it up.

I loved the campaign it was an awesome story. Few things that bothered me

.... Spoilers..........

was the game shoulda ended when Vaas died. Hoyt wasn't all that great of a badguy compared to vaas but that final mission was pretty epic tho.

...... Spoiler end..............

Also kinda hated how you had to hunt in order to pick up stuff or make money. Wallet only held so much money so you couldn't stay out and farm forever eventually you had to return to town to spend money regardless if you wanted to or not because if you killed someone you got no money for it if you didn't spend it. Herbs and skins didn't stack so when you picked up something that looked cool you had to choose whether or not you wanted that herb for crafting or wanna keep around a kamodo dragon skin for future crafting. Minor gripes but it was overall a fantastic game with top notch gameplay.

Why don't you keep the spoilers in the spoilers thread?

I still have quite a bit of story left to complete. I've been spending most of my time hunting relics and doing side-missions. So addicting!

Is this game good enough that you'd recommend it to someone that hates fps?

Glad to know the game has a selection for the DX settings. I love that.

Probably not, I mean, its got a lot of RPG elements and slower moments, but the majority of the game is still first person shooting.
