Just wanted to field you guys about data plans since your demographics will be closer to my own. I payed the $849.99 plus tax for the iPhone 5 even though I was under contract for the iPhone 4S just so I could have unlimited data for my hot spot as well as my phone's data. On Verizon, if your phone is 3G the hot spot feature is $20.00 extra a month but there is a 2GB limit where as if your phone is 4G/LTE, it's $30.00 a month but no limit as long as your are an unlimited customer. I hot spot my 3DS, PSV, and iPad and have burned through just over 5GB in a week. So far the only issue I have had is last night I couldn't get the news to stream on my iPad and couldn't get into a game of CoD:D on my PSV. Anyone heard of them throttleing? Do you have a different provider and if so what has been your data experience?

Nice. I remember that episode and my daughter is just about to get some braces.

I am still on ATT unlimited data plans for 3G. Me and my wife has been buying 3G devices just to keep those plans. However, ATT does throttle after about 4Ggigs of unlimited 3G use. We dont use the hotspot feature since I dont want them to jump us on a contract all of a sudden.

When I was in line for the iPhone 5 they were telling AT&T customers that they could still get a discounted phone and keep their unlimited data. Verizon you had to pay full price.

$850 for... a phone. I seriously think you come on these boards just to gloat about how much money you spend on electronics.

$850 for a phone is a waste of $850.

People who who spend the money for an unlocked phone are also the people who are selling their phone when a new model comes out. It costs a lot to start buying unlocked but when you can sell that phone for $700 when you are ready to switch it isn't so bad.

I don't personally do this as I tend to beat up my gadgets and wouldn't be able to sell it for what I should be able to.

I understand, but this guy always comes on here and posts how much he spends on electronics just to boast about his spending habits.

I think it's a rude thing to do.

I was able to keep my unlimited plan with LTE when I upgraded to Iphone 5. As long as you don't change anything else, unlimited will be grandfathered in.

So much this. My wife has recently gotten a Samsun Stratosphere(wanted one with a qwerty keyboard), and it cost us all of nothing. As far as data plans, I would just get a smaller plan like 2 GB or something and just keep an eye on it. I know for a fact that Verizon will let you increase your data and not have to make any other changes, just pay the difference for your billing cycle.

Re-reading the OP I'm gonna agree with you. He talks a lot about money and what gadgets he has when the entire question is "Does Verizon throttle data plans if you use to much?"

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 27, 2012 7:43:36 AM PST
Well I just stated I went through 5GB in a week. Just streaming the news/Netflix/Hulu/AP and playing some CoD:D online while I am waiting to get out of work.

didn't one of the cell phone commercials say verizon does throttle your connection? i think it was sprint.

I am detecting a little tude. I am not gloating and I rarely post on here. I was simply stating what I am trying to do.

IMO, if you're going to drop $850 on a phone, you don't care how much monthly data is going to run you.

Coming here to post how much you spent on the phone, only to ask where to find the cheapest data? It's all a cover-up to boast about how much you spent on the phone.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 27, 2012 7:50:30 AM PST
Yes, but when you do post on here you're talking about how much you spent on your PC, or your dual GPU setup, and now your phone.

Wife has the iphone while I have a windows phone. I was looking at a Windows 8 phone. If we can keep it like it is I really dont mind. I suppose it is cool to upgrade now. Saving money is a win win in my book. She is already complaining about how her iphone 4 has a different cable than her ipad.

Most cable company throttle high bandwidth users espcially during prime time (pretty much any time outside of 10 pm to 6am). It is safe to assume that cellphone providers are probably twice as bad. Escpecially with "smart" phones being so popular enabling everyone to watching porn on their phones while at work.

I highly doubt you will find a (wireless) provider that doesn't throttle you due to your extreme data usage. Just stop watching/streaming movies and your data usage will be reduce by 2/3 imo. Games don't use that much data compared to movies.

Edit: Btw if you are dling games on ur psV or 3DS just use your cable at home (Save alot on bandwidth usage). Looking at your cash flow its safe to assume you do have internet to your home.

Whatever dude. I didn't ask where to find the cheapest data plan. I was just wondering what anyone else's experience was with their provider. How about if I just make everything generic so YOU don't feel as though I am boasting. If anything I wish I could have got THE PHONE at the discounted rate like AT&T was still offering. Did I ever mention how I have a dual GPU?..because I don't. Me thinks you are just a troll or some sort of hater.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 27, 2012 8:02:03 AM PST
I didn't add the mobile hot spot feature until after I got my new phone and they didn't force me to a tiered plan.

Oh, right. Someone else was posting their dual GPU build. I'm sure I can find another one of yours, but here's two:

No but your post is confusing. Why tell us how much you spent on your phone when that doesn't have anything to do with your question?

Its like.. I spent 20k on my new car! How do i change my tire?
