I went with her to Sprint today as we are all still on a family plan. It was time for an upgrade so we picked out a few phones and went to the counter. The guy behind the counter's phone went off while we were talking and she said "That sounds familiar... is that Zelda?" The guy was amazed. It was the item obtainment sound from the original zelda on the NES. I am so proud to call her my mother :)

Have your folks ever surprised you with their video game knowledge?

I always amaze my son's friends when they realize I'm playing WoW or ToR with them.

My parents used to amaze all my friends with their music taste. They were particularly shocked when they took me to concerts like AC/DC, Metallica, and Black Sabbath.

My mother put together a slideshow for my wedding. When it came time to pick music for mine she came up to me and said "I want you to have Legend of Zelda music for your half. Go find one that sounds nice."

There are some really awesome pieces beyond the well known ones from OoT.

This is true. Even though I don't like Zelda anymore than any decent game, the music is excellent.

The only thing that is involved with my parents and gaming is them complaining about how I play games to much and how I am missing out on the special moments in life. Never to me though, just trash talking me to my wife.

I read the title as "I'm a very proud mother." Yeah, not quite awake yet.

I wish I could say the same for stuff like this. One time, I asked my mother "What company makes the Nintendo Wii?" and she said she didn't know.. >.<

Yep. I ended up using this one.

" "What company makes the Nintendo Wii?" "

That's like "Who is buried in Grant's Tomb?"

Last year, I went on a cruise with my wife, my younger brother and his wife, and my parents. We were messing around in the gym and my dad and I started fake boxing. He lightly punched me in the side and said "Body Blow! Body Blow!", mimicking the Nintendo arcade Punch-Out!! I was pretty amazed. He was remembering something he'd seen and heard in his limited experience of being with me and my brothers in the arcades 20+ years ago.

My mom plays all those social games on facebook and is constantly trying to get me to join her clan or whatever so she can get extra stuff. It's a little annoying really...
