I can't access the full article at work but a friend told me about this last night. If you've never checked this series out I recommend playing the Wii versions as the controls are much better and more intuitive than the Gamecube originals.

That's awesome, I never played Pikmin 2 and used copies are ridiculously overpriced.

It's better than the first one in every conceivable way.

Oh, lol, I guess that's why. So I guess I was wrong on all counts.

Man, I could make a fortune if I sold off my Gamecube games. I have pretty much the entire library of worthwhile games for it. Maybe I should consider this. Then I'd have a Gamecube sized gap in my collection though.... Decisions, decisions.

I think it's fairly obvious that's why they "OK'd it" but I really don't see why that's a problem. You are aware Nintendo is a business right? And Pikmin 1 was released on the Wii a while ago.

Edit: Well you retracted your statement so I guess I'll retract mine too.

I actually prefer the first one. The time limit really added a lot to the gameplay. Plus I thought the addition of purple and white Pikmin wasn't needed. On topic I already have Pikmin 2 and my GC, so I don't see a reason to upgrade. I will wait for Pikmin 3. One of the best franchises in gaming for sure.

To each his own but I thought the time limit was the absolute worst thing about the first one. The second game added and improved on so many aspects.

Sunlight hours were way too short in the first game. It was like 8 minutes or something. Barely enough time to make significant progress considering the 30 day time limit.

Kin-foot says:
Once you knew what to do, that 8 minutes was more than enough. You can do a lot in a day. Learning the map is what took the longest.

I agree. My wife bested me by getting all ship pieces in 14 days out of the 30. There is plenty of time in the game.

MrFoxhound says:
I bet she didn't do it on the first play though, so it's like any other game. The more you play it, the better you get.

Thanks Cpt Obvious. Either way the 30 day window is more than enough to beat the game, especially since all the ship pieces are not required. My wife and I both beat the game via our first play through. I love how Pikmin keeps track of how many are spouted and killed. I play yearly trying to best myself.

Yeah, I almost... ALMOST... bought a used copy of Pikmin 2 for $40 a couple of weeks ago. SOOOO glad I didn't.

This was actually already posted, and nobody replied to it. I don't feel like digging through the past ten pages to find it.

Wow, this is unexpected but good news. Thanks!
