No I'm not preordering it. So far, all of the third part games announced, are games I can play on my PS3. I don't see the need to spend the money on a new console just yet.

I'm sure there will eventually be more first party, and exclusive third party support, but at the moment, it's just not worth it.

I bought Wii when it first came out. Wii probably has about 7 or 8 must play games, all other games have been disappointing, probably due to the fact that Wii has been targeting the casual gaming audience. Besides Wii, I currently have PS3, PS2, PSP, DSi, 3DS, and PC. I have plently of backlog games to currently keep me occupied. I will wait and see if Wii-U has a lot of must play games or it will have more of the casual games like it did with Wii.

Funny, I thought they got a bunch of free games. Silly me.

I think my point more than anything, I disagree with the general concensus that anybody with a differing opinion must be a 'fanboy.' People have different tastes, nothing more to it. Both 'fanboy' and 'gimmick' just get tossed around here far too often. I think VGF posters really just need to grow up and appreciate different perspectives.

That's definitely in the eye of the beholder.

Edit: To clarify, for me, the launch price was worth it. I played the hell out my 3DS for months before the price drop and I got 20 games, most of which are pretty awesome, so I don't feel I got screwed out of anything. You can't be an early adopter of any system and not realize that the price will be cheaper later. That's no big secret.

When the Vita's price inevitable drops, I won't feel screwed on that either (even though I doubt we'll get any free games, since I still can't even get my copy of SSDD, lol).

3DS early adopters got screwed anyway, out of $80. So, Nintendo is not immune.

So that little hardware comment really has nothing to do with Nintendo and the Wii-U. Cool, just clarifying. No biggie.

I wasn't specifically talking about Nintendo; I was talking about being an early adopter in general.

Heh, and the OP who has never owned a Nintendo console plans on getting it day-one. Pretty tough to be a fanboy of a company of which you've never owned a product.

I thought Pikmin 3 was announced? Also does Mario, Metroid and Zelda really need to be announced? We all know those games are coming. Either way, agree to disagree. I think one can be a fan and want a Wii-U, without being a 'fanboy.'

Has Nintendo ever had severe hardware issues? Honestly?

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 23, 2012 8:33:18 AM PDT
MrFoxhound says:
Because there is nothing announced about it. No games have been announced, no price, no release date, we don't even know how the tablet will interface. So, I don't think that I'm wrong in saying that only Nintendo fanboys are dead set at this specific moment in time that they are going to buy it are the only ones.

I'm not 100% sold, but as I learn more about it I probably will be.
I just hope this doesn't end up like the Wii where a bunch of scumbags go out and buy as many as they can get their piggy hooves on to resell at a gross markup.

MrFoxhound says:
Same here. Higher prices, no software, systems with severe hardware issues, being the first kid on the block as the only positive for being an early adopter isn't worth it anymore.

Lucanus says:
Why would it make somebody a fanboy for wanting a Wii-U? It plays all my current Wii games, uses my current Wii remotes. I know it will have Zelda, Mario and Metroid; which are my favorite games. I don't see anything wrong with wanting one, same reason I know I want to see the next Pixar movie without knowing anything about it. Historical quality is there, we all know what the Wii-U will offer. There is a difference between being a fan and being a fanboy.

No launch titles are even announced, let alone price or release date, so I'm guessing only Nintendo fanboys are the only takers right now.

It has games that cannot be found elsewhere, more so than Microsoft/Sony. The vast majority of great games on the ps3/360 are also found on the PC. The same isn't true in regards to the Wii. If I traded in my ps3/360 I could still get Batman, CoD, GTA, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Dead Space, etc. If I traded in my Wii I couldn't still get Zelda, Kirby, Mario and Metroid. Nintendo has created a niche and they know how to exploit it. I do realize both the 360 and ps3 have some exclusives, but their ratio of exclusive to multiplat is much different than Nintendo's, which is why a Nintendo system can't be replaced by a PC, it just can't.

No way for me.

My days of being an early adopter are being affixed to the rearview mirror.

I'll be pre-ordering one. Looking forward to more first-party games and moving the Wii into the daughter's bedroom.

That's an awesome idea, assuming you clean up down there first.

See what you're going to miss out on by not getting a Wii-U on day one Flores?

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 22, 2012 11:24:55 PM PDT
My goal is to be the first person to use the Wii U controller to send a picture of my butt to my entire friends list.

I generally don't buy anything on day one, with the exception of an occasional game, because then I have to pay the max price, but I will be very interested to read people's take on the Wii-U. Reading positive reviews always puts that temptation factor in my head so I'll need some self control. To the people who do get it on day one, please post your opinions if you aren't too busy playing.

Like many, not a day one, but definitely a purchase in the near future.

I've never bought a console day 1 and this won't be the exception. But as every other Nintendo console/handheld since the SNES, it'll be a must have for me.

not sure depends on the cost and when it launches. but i will try to get it within the first year.

Nope!

I have yet to get over my Wii and 3DS buyers remorse. All though, when Last Story hits, I am sure I'll be playing the Wii like mad.
