They could have Netflixman, sgt hulu, Matt laure from today, jessica chobot, penzoil man, 1-800 contacts boy, the mermaid from starbucks, Mr Helmans mayonnaise, the michellan man, an annoying kid in wheelie shoes, jarrod from subway, and Chris Berman of espn as characters.

Of course Netflixman and sgt hulu, mat laure and Chris Berman will be gold required tp unlock.

Eh...eh... Amiright?

I don't really think Sony or Microsoft have enough notable characters for one of these games.

Etc says:
Crash Bandicoot, Sly (and accomplices), a Chimera (from Resistance), a Helghast (from Killzone), Cole (from inFamous), Drake (from Uncharted), Kratos, Kazuma Kiryu (yakuza), Sackboy (from LBP), Ratchet and Clank characters, Sweet Tooth (from Twisted Metal), the character from Journey, Parappa...

You could also fill up the roster with central characters from Killzone, Resistance, Fat Princess, and Starhawk. And I guess they're including characters from Metal Gear? There's enough in that series alone to warrant a fighting game.

On XBOX? no, it would be ridiculous to try something similar.

Maybe Microsoft and Sony should ask Nintendo if they can borrow some characters for their brawl games. They let Link be in Soul Caliber IV after all, even if it was just for the GC version.

Snake isn't a Sony character (the first Metal Gear games were on a home computer system and the NES), and Nintendo didn't "bring him in". The actual owners of Snake (hint: not Sony) asked that he be put in the game.

So, didn't get your copy of the game in the mail yet then? You'll change your tune once you do and you see how bad Sorcery is.

Problem with most of those characters is that they rely on shooting people. They don't have any interesting abilities to bring to a fighting game. What's a Chimera going to do? What's a Helghast going to do? What's Cole going to do (yes, inFamous is another shooter, they simply replaced guns with lightning bolts)? What's Drake going to do?

Smash Bros works (well, if you enjoy that sort of thing anyway. I can't stand Smash Bros myself) because Nintendo has a lot of characters with interesting abilities. Link has his swordplay, Mario has his punching and various power-up abilities, Kirby has his copy abilities, all the various Pokémon characters have their own battle moves, and so on. What's Sony going to do with a roster full of characters that fight using guns? Is this supposed to be a fighting game or a shooting game?

Jon says:
Cole=Pikachu or Ness
Radec=Snake or Samus or Fox or Falco
Chimera=Mario or Luigi or Peach or Zelda or Wario etc.

Really, I can say the same thing you are and switch it around. Whats R.O.B. going to do? or Game and Watch? or Mario? He just jumps around and shoots fireballs. Sonic just rolls around on the ground. Peach and Zelda can do nothing but be captured and held hostage, how can they be expected to fight? Jigglypuff? lol.

MC Gros says:
I completely agree with mjc0961, the problem would be really compounded with Microsoft because they really only have shooting games, I mean, wtf would Marcus Fenix do? He hides behind some element in the background then peaks over to shoot, I guess he has his lancer. Master Chief shoots people and throws grenades. I guess a Forza car would be able to do some close combat, but I wouldn't be surprised if they mounted some machine guns on it (that actually sounds awesome).
But then again, Jon is also correct, they don't have to stick with the way that they are in their respective franchises. I just think it'll be really weird to see Fenix shoot anything when not hidden behind a conveniently placed fallen pillar.

In reference to the original post, I'll be pissed off if they put in Banjo or Conker. Those are and will always be Nintendo characters in my mind. The only reason they're even famous (if they still are famous, anyway) is because of their N64 games.

I'm honestly just pretty mad about this whole thing though, Nintendo had this awesome unique fighter, and now they're just being straight up copied. I mean, I have a PS3 (used to have a 360 too, no more however) so it's not just penis envy or whatever. It's just annoying that every platform is trying to copy one another. It makes every system less unique and less appealing. In my opinion, anyway.

DVvM says:
I think part of the problem that Sony and MS have here (that Nintendo doesn't) is there's not really a tonal or thematic consistency in the the characters and the worlds of given to us by the HD console makers. I mean, Samus, Starfox, Link, Mario, Ice Climbers, etc. are all tonally compatible. They don't inhabit the same world, but it wouldn't be a stretch if they did, in some sense.

But Kratos and Parappa, or Marcus Fenix and Kameo? Those things just don't go together.

I'll just wait for the Wii U version of things, but thanks for the effort, Sony and Microsoft.
