I'm not on Vent. The server info you posted, is that for GW2 or for Vent?

Steamspur Mountains is the GW2 server.

Post your character name here tonight and I'll get you the vent info inside the game if you wanted to use it for voice chat.

Definitely playing this weekend. So far I can log in to the client but not the game yet.

Just started playing. Impressions about changes so far: The interface for quests where you have to kill so many enemies has been cleaned up a little. Instead of just a progress bar, it actually tells you how many enemies remain in terms of percentage, which I like because it's much easier understand. Does anyone remember if there was energy for roll/dodge moves before? I didn't think so, but there is now. Some items have been removed from the game. I can't tell which. There are a few things in my inventory that are just placeholder items saying they had been removed.

Skills have been redone. It seems we get all of our skill points back. Extra slots still open up at later levels, but now the skills are divided into tiers. You have to unlock 5 skills in one tier before the next one opens up. There are three tiers. The first set is one point per skill, the second set is 3 per skill It seems there are also two tiers of Elite skills.

Funny thing, I got rolled back (all chars gone, and achievements) but my friend did not, and we played all at the same time, and server.

Maybe lol, but it'll all be wiped on game day anyway, so not mad at them.

That's really weird. They announced that we would all keep our characters for the beta. Did you try logging out and back in again after completely ending the GW2 process?

Without breaking the NDA. Can you guys give me some tastytreats? What classes are there? What's level cap. I'm psyched and all my gaming sites are blocked, lol.

I'm pretty sure there's no NDA now. There wasn't last time.

I think the level cap is 80.

There one or two threads from a month or so ago when the first stress test happened. A bunch of us posted our impressions there.

Anyway, these are my thoughts. I made a human Ranger and ended up using a 2h sword since bows are so bad against single target. Also, 2h sword animations are pretty badass.
Ranger's pets are a disaster, at least up to lvl 20. There seems to be a bug that makes mobs attack pets (and kill them quickly) before they even notice you, regardless if you put your pet on peaceful or not. They're also too fragile (disposable?)

The whole thing where you get to a new area and look for events gets old quite fast. Besides that there is not much to do in the world in the first 2 zones. You get to a zone, start walking and wait for an event announcement. The events also cycle through 3 or 4 basic variations with not much story behind them whatsoever.

Crafting. hard to say if it's good or bad. Crafting window is too big for sure. I took up jewelcrafting and leatherworking. Dozens of drop down lists to navigate through and no easy way to sort/search through them. It's kind of a similar system that's in LOTRO, you need to make components first from the primary mats and then use these to make actual gear plus there are new tiers of gear available every 5 levels or so. Every next tier is going to have the same stats on it, just a bit higher, which unfortunately is more predictable than LOTRO system. I'm not sure if rare (yellow) mats are supposed to be very rare or I'm just unlucky to find only a single one after 20 or so hrs played.

Writing is quite dull, especially dialogue. I stopped caring about my character's personal story before I stopped leveling and was even putting those quests off for as long as I could. Lore appears to be skin-deep. Why was the White Mantle still around after 250 years? The Mursaat were disposed of long ago so why are these guys still here? It wasn't explained or even hinted at and no one seemed to question it. What happened to the Mantle and the Shining Blade after the end of Prophecies? More lore, please. More history...
Why are the centaur attacking, again?
All that kept me playing later on was getting to new areas and seeing the new visuals, nothing else.

I'm not sure about this, but it seems to me like there's a lot of story missing from the beta, that could be there in the final. It just seems odd that we'd go from such a story-driven experience in GW1 to this, so I'm holding out hope there's more to it.

They do the same for Engineer Torrents, they go after those and destroy them fast before they notice you.

I agree, I think they need to add real side quests to keep people interested, at least that's my thoughts about how to fix it.

I don't like that there is no effort to tame new pets, you just go near it and click 'G'... congrats a new pet is tamed. No extra items necessary, no skill, etc. Then again it goes very well with pets being weak and kind of disposable. I even tamed a shark in the water by accident while being in combat with some Krait. Must have clicked 'G' at some point when a shark was nearby :)

I like that you can swap two out whenever and the off-pet will revive and heal while its out of use.

I think they prefer if you swap them at a decent rate.

Yes, possibly that's their intention but I hope it isn't.
Anyone know if you can find crafting recipes as loot?
Can you still get/capture elite skills from bosses?
