OPM UK gave the original an 8 out of 10 so yea... Not too inclined to believe their opinion on the matter.

Both Infamous games are in a completely different league. They're just better games.

Prototype 2 could get 9/10 from IGN and Gamespot. and he would still say it sucks

Or I just wasn't very impressed by the first Prototype. Most people found it to be at least mildly disappointing after Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.

It's not like it's a game that was too good for criticism.

But I wouldn't trust IGN or Gamespot with Activision games. I'll stick to the people that don't have a horse in the race.

well what about the recent reviews? 86% and 9/10

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 20, 2012 1:39:01 PM PDT
Those reviews were exclusive reviews that were allowed to release before the embargo was up, which is always questionable.

Though like I said, I viewed the first 20+ mins on Youtube and thought it looked pretty okay. It didn't look bad, and it honestly looked better than i expected it to. I was disappointed with the first game, which is why I'm a bit more cautious about this one, which I think is totally reasonable.

I thought the first one was good enough, but I only paid $20 for it. I'll probably pick this up when it's cheap.

I thought the first one was underrated. Certainly not perfect, but I had fun with it. Looking forward to 2.

the game play video i saw on the xbl dashboard last night just was soooo good! the Insider guy (might have have been denny or ryan) suggested we play through on HARD the first time! i am not so sure about that! game looks much tougher than the first.

collecting things and doing side missions will unlock loads of new and unique abilities.

Trailers I've seen for this look alright. Nothing groundbreaking in the genre, but it looks semi-enjoyable. I think they did a pretty good job with the live-action trailer, I enjoyed that one more than the others.

Kind of reminded me of the first gears of war trailer the way they put slow music to it.

I wonder if bought reviews are part of the game's development budget.

I kid, but not really. Why is Alex Mercer a bad guy in Prototype 2? Or do you think they are just hamming it up to get Prototype fans all giddy and it'll turn out that they think they are on opposite sides, but actually on the same side and end up fighting together? Or maybe Mercer killed the new dude's wife because she was infected?

It sounds like I'm one of the few that is super excited about this game. I definitely thought the first one had some problems (mostly that it ran out of steam, and the huge world to play in had so relatively little to do...or, at least, filled with too many cookie-cutter missions), but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I thought the gliding was tuned perfectly. After playing Infamous...a drastically better game overall...I found that I preferred the "flying" mechanic in Prototype more than that in Infamous. This game looks to take the strengths of the first one and leave out some of the negatives. I sincerely hope they succeed.

This better not be a Crackdown 2...one of the biggest disappointments in entertainment history. The original Crackdown, like the first Prototype, was seriously underrated. One of my favorite games ever (Crackdown, not Prototype...Prototype was somewhat underrated, but Crackdown deserved a LOT more recognition for its excellence), but the sequel was a huge letdown. It seemed more like C2 was the first game whose gameplay needed refinement, and the first one was more like a sequel.
