Kinect Sensor for Windows

Wow, did anyone even know this was available for sale already? From what I read, it really doesn't DO anything at this point and is not for gaming use...

I know! Who in his right mind would buy a massively gimped portable game device with virtually no library for that much, anyway?

...oh, you were talking about the Kinect, weren't you? Heh.

I agree with this completely. The Wii Remote isn't as precise as I want it too be. My hope is the Wii-U does better with Wii Motion Plus. I hope the bottle neck with precision is with the sensor bar so the Wii-U can be better than the Wii with waggle controls.

GarionOrb says:
The bottleneck with precision is the Wii remote (no MotionPlus). Motion Plus actually makes it quite accurate, though games that use it (save for Zelda) haven't done a good job with precision.

Agreed. Though is it possible for the Wii-U to make Motion+ even more precise than what we saw in Zelda? I really don't know. Having said all that Skyward does have me excited about the potential of the Wii-U. I think a lot of games could have been a lot better with Motion+ such as Twilight. More than anything I want to see Nintendo do something good with Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin on the Wii-U.

The thing that made Skyward Sword's controls work was that they were imprecise. Rather than trying to follow your movements one for one, it limited, for instance, sword swings, to one of eight directions. So yes, while it offered far more precision than would have been possible without Motion Plus, that precision was still far more limited in scope than many other entries that controlled far worse for Motion Plus or the Move.

Sorcery sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe I'll finally hook up the move and eye stuff that came with my PS3 bundle.

DVvM says:
But if someone had a PS3, and neither a Move nor a Wii, the obvious choice of "what to buy" would be the Wii. It has a much, much better library than the Move ever will.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 30, 2012 12:20:51 PM PDT
And costs only marginally more!

Start the party is fun, tumble is really good, so was move heroes. Overall I've had more fun with move than kinect.

I have absolutely no idea about what you sarcasitcally were referring to.

Flores. says:
Are you actually comparing the library of the wii to the library of the PS3's motion controller?

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 30, 2012 12:56:05 PM PDT
DVvM says:
Yes.

If you're going to spend $100+ on a motion control platform, then your best bet (easily, far and away) is to buy a Wii instead of a Move or a Kinect.

Tumble was cool but I didn't stick with it for very long. You need a lot of patience and a really steady hand.

I know you don't. It's what makes you so cute!

Anyway, whether the Move is superior or not seems less important than the fact that there might finally be a fun game that takes advantage of its capabilities.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 30, 2012 1:05:39 PM PDT
Well I think many of the organizations looking into the Kinect have nothing to do with gaming, so that makes sense.

Excellent point given the Wii has Skyward, Galaxy, Prime 3, etc.

FPS fanboys are gonna play one on a PS3 or an XBOX 360... Not a Wii that will show noticeable lag with a max resolution of 420p (assuming you pay extra for the component cables) and will look like crap on my HDTV.

got mayo?™ says:
Wii doesnt look bad at all on a 32" 720p lcd actually. I wouldn't want to see nickel sized pixels on the 61" though.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 30, 2012 3:32:05 PM PDT
DVvM says:
FPS fanboys aren't really that interested in motion controls.

If you're interested in both "motion controls" and "playing games that are fun" then the Wii beats the pants off the competition. Sure, games aren't going to look as good as they do on other platforms, but I'm not so much of a snob as to let that bother me. I regularly play SNES and PSOne games that look worse.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 30, 2012 3:35:02 PM PDT
An FPS fanboy uses mouse and keyboard.
