I'm with Kirk, Lion King was a surprisingly awesome game...at least it was on my SNES, I never played the Sega version.

I only ever played the Sega version, and can report that it was also awesome.

I hear you, though, Guest. Just about every game that's on this list that I've played, I really enjoyed, so it's tough.

I suppose I could have taken it out on Arnold Palmer. Ohfk that guy.

I'm sure our downvotes won't cause him to stop making it in a weeping blubbery protest. Besides, we're using it to upvote Mean Bean Machine. It's for the greater good.

OK on the wiki, I was thrown off under the Platforms section because it says "Mega Drive" instead of Sega.

Okay, one question first - do you think Another World will have held up well? I never played it, but I keep hearing about it lately, and I'm intrigued.

Kirksplosion: I hear you regarding that most of these games are really quite good. I do, however, bear some reservations:

Altered Beast - A quotable cult classic that has otherwise aged rather badly. There's really nothing inventive about the game so much as it's little gimmick is...just a gimmick that added nothing to the gaming community.

Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine: This is a tricky one. I'll admit that it's a good game, but it's nowhere near as good as so many people try to make it out to be. Seriously, I knew this would happen; people would use the excuse that Sonic isn't in it and that nothing about the gameplay resembles Sonic as an excuse to get SOMETHING Sonic related into this game. That way, they can upvote it to high heavens. Seriously, the best game on the Genesis outside the other Sonic titles!? I don't think so. Not even close in fact.

Golden Axe: I guess it's nice having to play the girl because her ultimate attack involves summoning a dragon to kill everything in sight, but it's such an underwhelming title compared to Streets of Rage 2 and 3. Golden Axe 2? Even moreso. The only gem in the series is, until Ultimate Genesis Collection came along anyways, the unreleased Golden Axe 3.

Jurassic Park: Not a particularly well-designed platformer. Not a bad game per se, but it's essentially a style-over-substance type of game.

The Lion King: Love the movie. The game, however, is needlessly hard and tedious. One of the worst final bosses ever in video game history. I had to make Simba invincible and play the game from the late afternoon until early the next morning before I finally won.

Maximum Carnage: Not a good saga in the Spiderman comics. Only a slightly better and edgier game (at least compared to other games made by the cursed rainbow, LNJ). Just...meh....

All of the Mortal Kombat games: Sold on the blood and gore alone. When you get down to it, these games are not very well-balanced Fighting games with a good supply of characters being more broken in use than others. Not much in the way of redeeming virtues unless mindless violence is your forte. Personally, gameplay trumps everything in a game every single time.

Everything else? Ranges from good to first rate.

I actually just played through it last week and I find it does hold up very well. I played it on my phone and it took a bit to get used to a new control setup but once I did I liked it very much.

It is a game where death comes fast and easy and some of the puzzles are tough so in that sense it might feel like an older game but it always respawns are never that far back and the puzzles are still interesting.

I rage deleted Altered Beast off my PS3.

Kirksnowsion says:
I have mixed feelings with Golden Axe. It was probably my favorite Genesis game back in the day, but I recently tried it again, and it was not pleasant. Also tried Streets of Rage 2 which I also used to enjoy - it was even worse. I also loved Altered Beast, but it's probably also terrible in retrospect.

I loved Lion King through and through. Sure, it was tough (not sure if I ever even beat it), but it was well-designed and a blast to play.

And just to be clear - the Mean Bean Machine is mostly staying in because such a kerfuffle was made over it. Had it simply been on the list, or quickly made it on the list, it would probably already be gone.
