Sega has finally revealed the first details for the fifth Yakuza game in the series, and five is definitely sounding like the magic number.

Ryu ga Gotoku 5: Yume Kanaeshi Mono, which literally translates to Yakuza 5: Person Who Fulfills Dreams, will take place in five cities: Sapporo, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka, and feature five playable characters: Kazuma Kiryu, Taiga Saejima, Shun Akiyama and Haruka.

Also joining the long-time cast members is Tatsuo Shinada, a former baseball player drowning in debt and banned from the sports due to excessive gambling.

According to Famitsu (via Andriasang) Yakuza 5 will be a direct sequel to Yakuza 4 and could be out in Japan by December.

I love the Yak games, but they release so fast! I'm not even done with four, yet alone Dead Souls.

I still need to finish up 4 and and Dead Souls as well. Love the series though and look forward to 5 - can't wait to see the new engine.

Interesting. Love this series, but I am very glad to hear about the new engine. The games were showing their age by three, and four was really milking it for one more. The update should be fantastic, because the games are already great fun. A true current gen Yakuza game should be amazing.
