I'm just wondering if you'll be able to change out the harddrive like on the 360. I have a 32GB pre ordered but 32 gigs doesn't seem like a lot. I googled it and can't find any results.

As of now, Nintendo has only mentioned portable USB HDs that you can use. How this is gonna work, I have no idea. Maybe someone else has more information than I do, but I know you can use portable USB HDs.

Seems like you can use any hard drive or flashdrive.

I think the storage isn't removable but you can add external storage. Annoying considering how common downloadable games are.

Definitely will be annoying

Just plug in an external drive.

This. A bit annoying, IMHO, I love how Sony handled their storage situation on the ps3. It was perfect.

I prefer this way, actually. Give me a little bit to handle saves right out of the box but let me use my own drive for games. It just doesn't make sense to me to tie a business model to hard drives that are constantly falling in price.

People find using an external harddrive annoying? Why is that?

Modern flash drives are huge. That should be plenty for the Wii U.

I really don't; I was just echoing this sentiment.

I don't understand why people would find using USB drives annoying considering how cheap and readily available they are.

On Black Friday we will probably be able to get 2TB drives or higher for $60. I'm just going to connect a 3TB drive to my Wii U and be done with it.

I prefer the clean look of not having externals. I know it is childish and stupid, really it makes no sense, but I can't help it. I put it as a slight annoyance. Though I am not convinced I need more than 32 gigs anyway. Nintendo will more than likely release GC games as is, no HD upgrade. I am not rebuying. Indie games take next to no space, same with VC games.

Oh, so not the actual use of the harddrive but the look? That's fine, will you still do it though?

I do because I've never used one on my consoles and have no idea how to

Yeah it is a look thing. I will do it if I have too. I am going to see how long 32 gigs lasts me. I don't expect to download much on the Wii U, not like I do on the ps3.

I don't see how it would look any different if you have multiple consoles but if it really bothers you then you can just mount a passport drive to the back of your entertainment center or go with a 128GB SD card.

In reply to an earlier post on Oct 11, 2012 10:27:59 AM PDT
I'm guessing you plug it into the USB port.

If I need the space I will probably go with a SD card. I know there is something wrong with me, but I am overly particular with my theater. For instance, my bar has tons of booze, the bottles are in order of height. I get annoyed if that gets rearranged. All my Nintendo consoles are in the same cabinet. All my games are grouped alphabetically. There is a reason I went into analytical chemistry. I like order.

My HDMI cables are also color coded. I used a blue cable for my ps3, since it is bluray. I used green for the 360 since it is their colors. I used white for the Wii-U, I have the cable already ran so I don't have to mess with it during launch.

I prefer plug and go USB to internal HDs.

Best way to go imo. I can hook up a USB3.0 1TB passport and let it go.
