Just thought I'd create an official thread for all of you who've got it. I would love to hear some gameplay and presentation impressions. Pretty sure everyone will delve into spoilers by the 2nd page itself which means I will avoid that thread then.

Happy playing and posting!

I hate how everytime some NPC drops a piece of trash on the ground, the camera zooms into Connor's face and we get to see a single tear roll down his cheek while you hear an eagle in the background. It was fine the first dozen times or so, but after the 50th or 60th.. ugh.

It is fun so far. Taking awhile to get to where I get my assasin outfit and gear though.

It starts off slooooooow. I played a good three hours at least and I'm not even playing as Connor yet.

I think I'm too used to playing Dishonored. I'm used to stealthing through the entire game, except in ACIII I can't save anywhere I want. So if I'm detected, it means I have to reload the checkpoint, and the checkpoint system kind of sucks. Rather than autosaving at the last objective, it saves basically at the end of whatever cutscene you last watched. That means replaying lengthy chunks over and over again.

I have faith that it'll pick up, but I have to say this is the worst and most boring beginning of any game in the series.

Some of the reviews actually turned me off to the game. I'll probably wait to grab it on a $10 Steam sale.

It's pretty freaking cool, has it's bugs in some parts, and I remember why I cannot stand the AC games - the combat is beyond wonky.

But they did a pretty good job on everything. It's fun to play.

From the other thread: I finished the first 2 sequences, I really love it so far, naturally.

I'm on Xbox and I haven't noticed any bugs or lip-synching errors yet.

The only thing I don't like so far is the same thing I don't like in every Assassin's Creed game, the full synchronization requirements. I feel they don't really serve any place in the game, since this is not really a series built around high score chasing, and that they are simply a distraction, especially now with all the different side missions and rpg-style exp bar.

And then I end up getting annoyed at myself when I miss them, even though I know I'll never get a full 100% in this game making the achievement and the objectives absolutely pointless.

I do agree with Voice that it's a slow starter, but I have no problem with the character I'm playing as currently.

Edit: And JJ, we must be paying a different game, the combat is as smooth as butter.

I got 100% in AC2, and since I'm getting 3 on the Wii U and there could be a game drought, I'm going to get 100% on 3 as well.

I'm enjoying it so far. Here are some early thoughts:

- It's ridiculously pretty to look at. I haven't been this impressed by graphics on a console since uncharted 2. Might be the best looking game to date imo.
- The writing and story, at about 3 hours in, are both top notch for a video game. Don't get me wrong, it's still filled to the brim with all the tropes and cliché' moments you would expect from an assassin's creed game, but that still puts it far above other games that actually try to tell a cohesive story.
- The early missions are not that fun. I've read reviews that criticized the game for holding your hand too much, making you play a certain way, and punishing you for not doing it exactly the way the developers intended. This is the absolute truth. I'm the kind of person who feels like I'm failing at the game if I don't get full sync, and I've rarely been able to do it here. I'm trying to let it go and come back to the missions later, but it's still a bummer.
- I find the controls clunky and somewhat counter intuitive. I've never really liked the control of AC games though, so others might not have a problem with them.

I'll never get 100% in an AC game again thanks to multiplayer and full sync.

JJ4prez says:
No, you are playing on 360. Where multiplats are seamlessly better. The PS3 has constant lip synching errors, sometimes buggy counter attack issues, and even on a mission my player would not do anything (had to restart mission).

Not that I am complaining about it too much though, I have enjoyed the game big time.

Didn't AC2 have full sync?

In reply to an earlier post on Oct 31, 2012 5:57:44 AM PDT
This slow start is a problem I had with AC2 as well. I remember almost giving up on the game completely but I noticed that it was finally starting to get good. AC2 was my first game of this console generation so I was about to be all pissed that the game turned out to be a dud, luckily once it got better it was a lot better.

StriderNeo15 says:
I think it had something called that, but AssBro added all these little additional objectives that if you didn't finish you got 50% sync on a mission rather than 100%, and it's been expanded for AssRev and AC3.

Really? I thought some parts were horrendous looking. All of the scenes with the protagonist in it looks pretty, but there are some characters that look like legos almost with hardly any detail in some parts. 50% of the game looks like it is DX9 (which it probably is). However there are some parts that are drop dead gorgeous. Like the water when you're on the boat! Or when you look in the distance on top of buildings. All well done.

Also do you find the controls any worse than other AC games or just on par?

They're pretty much entirely different, almost simpler than before, but I'm still getting used to them.

The graphics can be a bit inconsistent at times, but the level of detail in the opening sequence really blew me away. I think in the really large environments the hardware holds the engine back quite a bit.

Exactly my thoughts, I was going to bring up I am just used to PC graphics. But I remembered that the crap inside the 360 and PS3 are basically from 2004.
