I did pre-order this from the Newegg deal yesterday. This game is closest thing to a new Thief game I'm likely to get anytime soon...or ever. I want to see if I can sneak through the whole game. Not sure if I'll have the attention span for that many hours in one game though.

If I'm not mistaken the lead designer worked on the Thief games...? That or System Shock...or both...?

Either way, it looks excellent and there are some interesting innovations in the gameplay I look forward to messing around with.

I preordered at BestBuy, they are offering a $20 gift certificate on preorders

The emphasis on combat hardly makes this a Thief game. I'll be interested to see if you can actually do a no-kill playthrough.

Why o Why is it released in Oct, too many games coming out in Oct.

Why?
By all accounts Eidos Montreal are going full steam with Thief 4 (at least from what I've heard)
Deus Ex was great, so I'm really looking forward to Thief 4.
Please dont tell me its vaporware...

Thief 4? I've read the same, it seems they're putting a lot of resources into it to make sure the game turns out well.

At least as good as DE:HR or better? Sold.

There is a little Thief in Dishonored...

Dishonored is the first Arkane Studios game to be published by Bethesda Softworks since parent ZeniMax Media acquired Arkane Studios in August 2010. The game is being developed by a team that includes lead designer Harvey Smith, known for his past work on the Deus Ex franchise as well as Thief: Deadly Shadows, Arkane founder and co-creative director Raf Colantonio, who worked on Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, while Viktor Antonov, the man who designed Half-Life 2's iconic City 17, is lending his talents with Sebastien Mitton, Art director, to Dishonored's world

I've read from different previews that there are several different ways to do missions. However, not sure if you'll be able to do a no-kill.

One of their interviews with the developers said you can go throughout the game killing no one.

I am sure you will be able to knock out enemies.

I think I heard them at E3 say you could do the game entirely stealh so I'd assume you could go no-kill!

Edit: Ninja'd bu JJ=SH=

StriderNeo15 says:
You can, the developers mentioned that it the stealth playthrough of the E3 demo, not only can you not kill any guards, but all of your story targets as well.

Here you go guys. This is the same mission done two very different ways. One stealth, the other is bloody. They say in the stealth vid you can do it without killing anyone, even the marks, but a player will have to be very thorough (doing side quest for example).

So was Skyrim, Oblivion, and Bioshock. To exclude a game because it's in first person does a grave injustice to games.

It adds to the immersion. Those could be your generic arms holding that weapon. It's like POV in other forms of unmentionable-media-based entertainment.

You know I am not one who buys a game very often as stated many times, but this game could be the first of the year for me. Hopefully I may find a deal during black friday for it and get it a bit cheaper.

The video demos on Gamespot (which are AWESEOME) make it sound like it's definitely going to be possible.

I know, it's awesome. So tired of these stupid third-person games all over the place. Clunky, and gets in the way of seeing everything.
