I'm probably picking up another HD collection from Gamestop's sale today. Questions is: which ones are the better games, Jak and Daxter, or Ratchet and Clank?

Ratchet and Clank without a doubt. The Jak games suck.

Ratchet and Clank FTW

Ok, haven't played Ratchet and Clank.

Tough question. Ratchet and Clank are probably the better overall games. Jak and Daxter had two EXCELLENT games then the underwhelming 3, though.

I'd go with Ratchet and Clank, there's more to do.

Can't say much regarding Jak and Daxter since I've never played them, but Ratchet and Clank is awesome.

R&C especially those in the collection is easily the best choice

The first R&C game is more of a pure platformer while the games after that are more third person shooters with platforming elements. You may be turned off by the first game but they get a lot better.

I don't think you can go wrong with either, but R&C are more consistently high quality. The latter Jak games can get a little frustrating. I still think The Precursor Legacy is the best, whereas the R&C games get better & better with each new game out of the 3 PS2 games.

The first Ratchet and Clank is kind of a drag, definately didn't age very well from a gameplay/controls standpoint.

But that could have just been because I got used to the PS3 games first.

Ratchet and Clank fo' sho. Part 3 is pretty amazing, but all three are good (part one may not have aged as well, but it really sets up the "buddy movie" think that R&C have going on). Also, some of the humor may feel like...well, 90s humor. It leads to some groan moments, but it's part of the charm.

R&C is the far better series, IMO.

both are quite worthy of purchase, but with R & C FFA later this month, maybe go with that - get into the R & C spirit ...

I'm working my way through the first game, and now that I've gotten used to the controls, I'm really starting to enjoy it. It reminds me of a 90s Pixar movie, which is a good thing. This is my first R&C game.

You'll find that a lot of the things that are now common in third person games (like strafing) come into play in later games. You actually do get an item in part one that lets you strafe as well, no spoilers though :)

Damn, no such luck. I printed out the coupon I got in my email and Gamestop wouldn't take it. Saying it was already used.
