Are there any prepaid Steam cards like you can use for iTunes, Facebook or PSN? After the PSN data breach I am leery about storing credit card data with gaming networks.

You can try to get a Prepaid card like American Express to pay for it.

I got a gift card from my work that works just like any credit card. Most credit card companies offer these pre-paid cards like Tanky John mentioned. Throw some money on the card and it becomes a gift card that can be used anywhere those credit cards are accepted. Pretty slick way of staying anonymous to companies you want to buy stuff from but don't want them to know your info.

Only thing I had to do was go online and add a name and address to it. But it doesn't care what that name or address is so I put in a fake name and a random address.

you can get those cards at most pharmacies, and some gas stations, any place like that. and most of the time, you don't even need to go online to register it. i probably have 15 of those cards just sitting on my floor with a few cents left on each.

No one's tried to attack Steam yet (that I've heard of), so they're bound to be attacked soonish, whether or not they have good security. And who's to say it won't be Kate Libby a.k.a. 'Acid Burn' this time?

what a great suggestion ! I forgot about those prepaid credit cards. I also have not been wanting to use an actual CC for the Eshop & have been to 2 different stores seeking the cards (like Wii cards) with no luck ... that's the perfect solution to my problem too .... thanks. really wanted to download Zelda & a couple of others . now I can safely do so.

(happened in 2007)
So no worries- the hackers won't want sloppy seconds.

EDIT: 'tis only a joke, I had just found out about it moments ago from google, you shouldn't think of Steam as any less safe because of this

Update: Doug Lombardi, director of marketing for Steam, tells 1UP, "There has been no security breach of Steam ... The alleged hacker gained access to a third-party site that Valve uses to manage the commercial partners in its Cyber Cafe program. This Cyber Cafe billing system is not connected to Steam.

I've seen Steam cards being sold at places like 7-11

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 19, 2016 6:27:10 AM PDT
You know these are a thing, right? Steam Gift Card - $20 Obviously don't buy them from Amazon, but most major retailers have them.

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 19, 2016 6:27:21 AM PDT
You have to pay cash at 7-11 to buy cards anymore. You can use your credit or debit card at Target, BB or GS to buy the Steam cards.

pyroguy says:
yeah I know. but I've never purchased the Steam cards at any of those places, let alone at 7-11 (always added money to my Steam Wallet during the times I was purchasing trading cards to craft badges)

Nothing like bumping a five year old thread.

send my your banking info and I can add it for you.

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 19, 2016 6:45:04 AM PDT
You know those weren't a thing when I created this thread five years ago, right?

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 19, 2016 7:13:43 AM PDT
Most people would have anticipated this 5 years ago and wouldn't have needed to create a thread that would have been necrobumped.

Thank you kindly sir. I will have your order placed by the end of the day.

Yes, you can use PayPal. Also, you can sell items and add the money to your steam wallet. I've sold swords and other in-game items and cards to add funds to my wallet.

I like the combo of paypal and selling items on the marketplace.
