Pretty pumped, I grabbed one already, check it:

Michael: I hope you enjoy your watch, as always, but purely personally I do not see $145 of value anywhere in that watch. You would be amazed at the factory gate prices for similar watches if you had the patience and the good luck to get a straight answer from a site like Alibaba. But lovers are not cost-accountants...

Anyone interested in retro design would struggle to better Kyle's suggestions.

KJK SLC says:
Whoa, why did my post get deleted? Slamming on the product?

Michael -- to repeat my suggestions, just go to the world's largest internet auction site and search for "raketa tv".

Kyle, welcome to the gang. I do believe that we all have had posts deleted by Amazon at one time or another. In my case it was because they took something I said and decided it wasn't PC. Perhaps that is what you did without knowing it.

As far as the watch itself goes, I would personally take the money and get something from our old standbys, Seiko, Citizen, and Orient --- maybe Parnis and Sea-Gull. LP

I have to agree with LP. I would rather take the money and look elsewhere. Sea Gull, Vostok, Orient, Seiko, Citizen, Orient and even Pulsar come to mind.

..Michael, ...I can understand the notion that you like what you like, as I have friends who purchase many of these fashion brands just because they like the look of it...I also have a slew of inexpensive watches myself (mostly fashion) that are reasonably good values for what they are..... but nothing is more important than how you personally feel about the watch, and how much you like it.....but, just for grins, here is a current sale at WoW for example with a plethora of under $100 watches, with many even under $50....many fashion types, but also some Seikos, etc too....look through these just to give you an idea of what else is out there for less than $100 bucks for next time........I know you didn't really ask for any advice and were just sharing the joy of your purchase that you've congrats and I truly hope you enjoy it!....if you decide to add more watches later on, we'd be glad to make suggestions and help give you an opportunity to look at all the options out there available to you.....cheers!$99&utm_campaign=EML_WOW_120925UNDER99&wtID=5v.o5zw.10.dgv0

Ah! I should have written "Anyone lucky enough to read Kyle's suggestions..."

All censorship is stupid; some is more stupid than the rest.

Michael, sorry. I didn't read it all the way through. I truly do hope that you are happy with your new watch. Japanese quartz should do right well by you. Did not mean to inadvertently rain on your parade. For me to miss something before posting is not unusual. Take care and would appreciate your initial reactions to the watch when receiving it. Thanks. LP

GRiM says:
I think y'all missed the point. Did any of the watches you recommended have a penguin on them? I think not.

Seriously, we all like what we like. Nothing wrong with liking penguins. :-)

This coming from a man who wears a Cyclos... LP

David Wolfe says:
LP, GRiM sounds a little disgruntled, eh?....I believe deep down he has a gnawing suspicion that if only Cyclos had used a penquin icon(as was originally planned) on their watches, they may still be around? ....uh-hmm....

In reply to an earlier post on Sep 26, 2012 7:35:10 PM PDT
GRiM says:
David, in fact, I have it on good authority that the Cyclos Day & Night Parity (the model I have) was originally to be the Cyclos Black & White Parity and would have featured a penguin rather than the sun and moon. If only they'd stuck with the original plan...

David Wolfe says:
....and there you have it admission by GRiM himself...that's always a good first step though, and somewhat longer in denial, he truly believes his life would have been that much more meaningful with a Penquin on his Cyclos....he's obviously suffering from DSSNP, or (Delayed Stress Syndrome to No Penquin) ....I've seen this before and it's not pretty, and although rehab is usually called for, outpatient therapy may also be beneficial in some cases.... ;-)

David, GRiM and his penguins is best represented by his pajamas, the ones he took from his oldest boy. Sure, his dear wife keeps muttering things in Spanish while a zoo keeper patrols their bedroom at night. But, he is our GRiM, and we love him despite the Cyclos and the little peeping noises he frequently makes :))). Good night all. LP

It intrigues me that when you Google "Michael Helfin", you get a guy who appears to be a marketing guru. I'd have to ask if, perhaps, he's taken on Penguin Originals as a new client.

But I'm only asking the question.

While I agree with the consensus that PO is not a good use of my money, compared to Orient or Seiko, I have to give them props for mildly amusing designs. Looks like stuff the guy at would dig on.

If a Penguin watch has to have a penguin on it, what chance do we have? Do you attach the penguin before or after you fit fit the strap? Cows get edgy about what you do to their deceased sisters.

Penguin shirts by Munsingwear used to be quite the fashionable item when I was a child. I guess the brand is making a comeback among those who are too young to remember them the first time?

Yeesh, is that three threads now with y'all railing on the Cyclos?

In reply to an earlier post on Oct 2, 2012 2:38:59 PM PDT
We are all envious of GRiM for owning a Cyclos. (At least I am.)
