Hi, I'm newly engaged and looking for the best wedding books, organizers/planners and magazines does anyone have suggestions. A lot of people have told me to register at www.theknot.com but I'm a very hands on person so I also need a few things that I can physically touch and feel. I've been looking at the Mindy Weiss planner and another one called "my big day" but I'm just wondering what people who have done this have actually used. Thanks!

The Knot Book of Wedding ListsThe Knot Book of Wedding Lists: The Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Day, Down to the Smallest Detail [KNOT BK OF WEDDING LISTS]
As a personal wedding consultant to brides doing their own weddings, I often recommend they cruise the web, downloading individual lists and forms they find helpful, then printing them out to carry in a three-ring binder (either in a clear sleeve or hole-punched if they want to be able to write on it). I believe copyright laws prevents you from copying more than 4 items from any one source, and you should leave the site address in the footnote section of the page to give credit to the author and publication. (I may be wrong about the number of copies you can make, so check on this before you enfringe on a copyright.) Sometimes you can download a page that is open to use and editing, and reformat or delete/add content to make it more useful for you. If you want a single book that contains everything, I have found a very comprehensive set of lists in , The Knot Book of Wedding Lists (see the above references).

I like Bridal Bargains Wedding Planner by Denise and Alex Field. It is small enough to carry around, spiral bound, includes worksheets, a lot of information besides the worksheets. It is suggested though to have a separate file for your vendor contracts since it is more compact versus other planners that are 3 ring binders.

Why not set up a wedding organizer tailored to your exact needs? Create your own 'Wedding Binder.' For a how-to, read my article, "Get Organized for Wedding Planning" at http://www.organizedartistry.com/orgowedding.html.
