I have been dieting since January, and I have only been able to lose 19 pounds. We leave for a cruise in less than a month. I really would like to drop at least 10 lbs. before the cruise. I can't fit into any of my clothes at this weight. Besides I am not comfortable here. I have tried the South Beach Diet, Five Factor Diet, Abs Diet for Women, The Skinny and Atkins. I exercise every day--walking 45 minutes to an hour. I weight lift 5 days a week. And I am so frustrated. I am not evern losing the 2 lbs a week that most experts say is the healthy amount to lose. I am hungry all the time, so the 6 small meals a day are the best thing for me. I am desperate. But I want to be healthy. I am not willing to starve and just lose water weight that comes right back. I am 45 years old, and I gained a lot of weight on an anti-depressant. I have since stopped the anti-depressant, but now I am really struggling to lose the weight, esp. the belly weight. Has anyone found anything that works for them? I have cut out sugar, refined carbs, etc. I try to eat lots of fruits and veggies. I also eat lean protein. But nothing seems to budge this weight.

You have done great to lose 19 pounds since January. It's very difficult to lost 10 pounds in a month in a healthy way. How long are you weight lifting each day? It takes a lot of hard and fast exercise up front to burn the sugar you've eaten. Then long and steady (like walking) to burn fat. It sounds like you are eating the correct foods and getting plenty of exercise. Since your body has hit a plateau, why not change it up? Get a DVD of beginning Kickboxing or Zumba Dance and do it at home every day if you don't have access to a class. As soon as you wake up, go outside into the light to signal your body to "get going". Change the times you eat. Try a few days of just having big green salad s and a "light" sandwich, with mustard not mayo. Continue to eat fruit. I find putting a hole in the stem end of an orange and "sucking" on it while squeezing out the OJ helps me not eat. Also EXTRA gum is actually good for your teeth with Sorbitol and helps with cravings. Look at this site for more info http://sandra532.eliteweightlosspackage.com. Sometimes it is necessary to change your routine to get off a plateau. I wish you the best!

You should check out Ideal Protein, and whether any medispas near you carry it. New to the states within the last couple of years, Ideal Protein has similarities to Atkins, but is low in fat, moderate in protein. You should also consider whether or not you are working out and/or lifting weights too much. I know that sounds crazy, but sometimes you can consume too few calories and work out too much, causing your body to turn on itself and slow down weight loss. 8-10 lbs per month may be doable, but you may have to cut out nearly all carbs (<20g per day), ensure you eat enough protein to keep that muscle while you lose the fat, and take a great multivitamin, calcium/magnesium, and potassium. Best of luck!

About a month ago I bought a book on Kindle called Follow Your Hunger to the Body of Your Dreams by Zara Neville. For years I had tried unsuccessfully to lose about 15- 20 pounds. In the past month I've lost 12. It's been amazing and I'm so happy because all my clothes look great on me. I think I'll have to start getting new ones soon. Only about seven pounds to go, but I'm so confident I can do it now. I just happened to stumble on this book and basically it's about listening to the signals that you're body is sending. It's really cheap too, only 2.99. I definitely recommend it.

Forgot too add, that with Follow Your Hunger to the Body of Your Dreams, i didn't need to exercise or diet. It's quite cool actually. But i'm really happy with the way I look now for the first time in years.

Try the eat-clean diet by tosca reno. My friend and I have been doing it for about two weeks. She's lost 7 lbs and I've lost 5. Within the first 24 hrs I noticed I wasn't as bloated as usual. Tosca has several books out and there are some fantastic recipes. you can also get some good recipes from Eat-Clean Magazine.

Eat 1.4 oz of 70% dark chocolate daily, decrease your workouts to every other day, add some yoga or tai chi or meditation on the rest days - all of these will lower your stress hormones and enable your body to drop weight. And take vitamin D. And have a great time on the cruise, you wont be the largest person by far. Relax and enjoy!

Try the Perfect 10 Diet. It is truly the best diet on the market and I have seen a lot of books in the last 25 years. I lost 50 pounds on that book in 6 months.

Hi, i lost 15 pounds in about two months and have kept it off by following the advice in Follow Your Hunger to the Body of Your Dreams by Zara Neville.
It's not about a low carb lifestyle, it's about following your body's inner cues to lose weight. It was very simple and straigtforward and easy to follow. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone with weight issues. Here is the link.Follow Your Hunger to the Body of Your Dreams!

Hi Brynn, I share your pain, the last few pounds are the most difficult to lose. If you are having trouble with belly weight and hunger I recommend The Decaf Diet: Is Caffeine Making You Fat?. Even if you are not a coffee drinker the book is full of healthy weight loss concepts aimed at reducing hunger. The author says cortisol and fructose make our bodies store fat preferentially in our bellies, and he gives strategies for reducing fat storage in the midsection.

Best,
Val

wmu-mart says: "Did you use HCG. Did you accomplish your desired goal?

Yes, I'm not Jack Buck but I did use HCG and YES in fact I did lose a lot of weight and kept it off for almost a year now, and all under a doctor supervison, thank you very much.

wmu-mart says: "Or you are just a seller"

I'm not a seller, but apparently YOU ARE

Ya know wmu-mart, you lose credibility when people find out you're peddling your own product. Furthermore, the reviews on Amazon aren't all that... In fact out of 4 reviews, yours is the only 5 star. Not exactly earth shattering now is it?
