Kribu -

I understand the difference in websites and understand that you use the europe version of amazon. Which one do you use specifically?

In the US Grave Mercy is in kindle format so it confuses me why you wouldn't be able to get it in europe.

Andrea says:
I think it just might be a different Kindle edition (different publisher than the US one). Can you see it available from this link > Grave Mercy ?

Posted on Jun 20, 2012 9:12:54 AM PDT
Kim says:
What version of amazon is that? O.o

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 20, 2012 9:29:50 AM PDT
Kribu says:
A ha! Yes, it's there - usually Amazon adds the different editions under one main title, even if the publishers are different. At $12.59, it's a bit much to take a chance on though, so wishlist it is, until the price (hopefully) drops eventually.

Kim - I use, but not every Kindle book that is available to Americans is available to customers in other countries. Availability depends on one's location and billing address.

Kribu -
I got the information by a FOAIFBE-MWWTDBF (friend of an Irish friend by e-mail who went to Dalkey Book Festival).
I don't think the Toxic Twins, Beryl or Fergus have been in ALL of the books. Ghastly has. And he was in book 2. But he didn't have a big part in Death Bringer. Like I said, I don't exactly like China. So I don't care if she `kicks the bucket'. OK. That was a lie. I'd probably a little sad.

And lastly; do you remember the trouble, the pain and the tears I went through to get Grave Mercy back from mom? I think you should try it. Or at least put it on your wish-list.

A. Davis -
Yes. Isn't Grave Mercy marvellous?

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 20, 2012 12:20:53 PM PDT
Kribu says:
Ghastly was still a statue in Playing with Fire, wasn't he? He wasn't actually *in* the book, just mentioned briefly?

I'm very fond of China, so I'd be rather upset to lose her. But then... I could totally see her do something completely out of character for her, such as sacrifice herself for the people she insists aren't really friends, so... Hmm.

Grave Mercy sounds a little too fantasy-world fantasy for me, to be honest. And I don't generally care for that at all. But, yeah, if I ever get it for a reasonable price (there are *very* few books for what I'd consider over $12 a reasonable price, if only because I read so many books I can't really afford most of them at those prices), I might give it a try.

Anyway. I read Dark Descendant today and rather enjoyed it - not spectacular, but nicely paced and kept me reading.

I think I'm going to pick up Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson next. She was (for some strange reason) always one of my favorite characters from Disney's Peter Pan, to the point that I even named my childhood cat after her, lol. Anyway, I've heard good things about the story, and a friend was able to lend it to me.

Helen Taylor - The Nicholas Flamel books are really great. I've read all but the last one (next on my list). I've heard that the series ends really well. :)

Ninth Grade Slays #2: The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod it's good so far considering I haven't read the first book.

I read Born Wicked: The Cahill Witch Chronicles, Book One and liked it. A couple of things kept me from loving it. The pacing was a little off. It took me about a hundred pages to really get drawn into the story, and there is a love triangle...ugh. Plus, the characters are confessing their undying love to each other only after a few conversations. Hate that too. But, I did like the book well enough to continue with the series, whenever the next book comes out.

Thanks TiffTiff125 for telling me that the last one ends good! : )
I'm STILL on the Magician. I've had a pretty hectic week, so I never got the chance to read much of it. : (

OMG: Tiger Lilly has a book? All about her? No way! : )

Your right about Ghastly being a statue, but I think that still counts as being in the book. I'm not sure which one will die anymore! I can imagine China killing herself for her frenemies (you can't call Skul and her `friends' at the moment), but I can also imagine Ghastly killing himself for Tanith or Skul or Val.
I can't take it anymore! I need KOTW! With the crazy girl with the magic, and the yeti's (one hopefully called Butterfly), the Himalayas (hopefully), and the killing of the characters... AAAAAAAH! WHY CAN'T EDITING BE FASTER?

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 21, 2012 2:01:43 PM PDT
Kribu says:
KOTW chapter one is up now, by the way. :D With a countdown widget that says 32 days left, for some odd reason...

And I loved the chapter. I loved it so much.

Also, I started reading Roil (Nightbound Land) by Trent Jamieson earlier... not technically YA, I think, but possibly YA suitable. Not sure whether I like it or not... tending towards "not really clicking for me" so far, at 30% in.

Helen Taylor says:
Just read KOTW's 1 chapter 3 times so far.
I'm in heaven.
...Fat men in their underwear thinking there butterflies...Werewolves...Werefish... A cliff-hanger chapter....
Derek; take me away. *swoon*

(Bit disappointed that there was no Yeti called Butterfly. : ( And I'm starting to think that maybe those aren't Yeti's, but Werewolves, on the cover)

67 days to go...

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 23, 2012 2:40:22 AM PDT
Kribu says:
"And I'm starting to think that maybe those aren't Yeti's, but Werewolves, on the cover)"

Yeah, same here. Still doesn't explain the mountains...

But that chapter. It was SO GOOD. Everything about it. And I love how we're thrown right in the middle of really weird things in this one, i.e. a crisis that is already going on. A really weird crisis, at that.

Also, I just love Derek's random humour. It's so... random. And so damn funny. And I'm NOT a fan of werewolves, but if anyone can do werewolves right, it's him, I suspect - at least I don't have to worry here that the werewolf is going to end up as a romantic interest. (Really, Valkyrie wouldn't be so stupid as to make the same mistake twice. She learned her lesson with the brooding vampire. I think.)

Helen Taylor says:
I, for one, love Werewolves. But Val better not go out with one! That would just be...Eww. It's the only word I can think of right now.
I hope Cealan (am I spelling that right?) doesn't just `pop-up from the dead'. That's just...tacky.
This mountain -thing is just annoying me now! What is with them? And so is `China or Ghastly dying'. I'd be REALLY annoyed if that wasn't true. Though; I don't think my FOAIF would lie to me...or would she...?
*checks watch* Still 67 days to go. Urgh!

Kribu says:
Caelan. And I doubt he'll be back. At least some dead people stay dead in this universe, even if not all of them do.

I'm seriously wondering about the release date now. The countdown widget on the UK part of the official site says 67 days; the countdown widget on the Australia/New Zealand part says 30 days. HarperCollins site gives the release dates as follows: for the *ebook*, 1 August 2012 for Australia and 30 August 2012 for UK; for the hardback, 30 August 2012 for the UK and 1 September 2012 for Australia. An Australian bookshop website gives 24 July 2012 as the release date (for the paper book).

... something is not adding up here. I just know that if Australians do indeed end up getting it 37 days earlier, I'll be (a) ticked off, (b) going to pretend I'm Australian to get the Kindle version... (I've had both the Kindle version and the hardback pre-ordered for months now - the only series I buy on Kindle, hardback *and* in the new design paperbacks... I'm, um, just slightly obsessed, perhaps.)

Oh, and back on topic for current reads - still Roil. Hopefully I'll get it done today. Still largely feeling meh about it, but at least at 70% in I'm more or less getting what's going on, at last.

Helen Taylor says:
Well, after I read SP (which was in paperback) I TRIED VERY HARD to get a hardback copy of the next one. And I failed. And I failed again and again, throughout the series, EXCEPT with Death Bringer. I got Death Bringer in hardback. I'm still happy. I won't fail to get a hardback copy of KOTW.
I don't get the NZ/Australia thing. Maybe it's just a slip up.
(Thank you for correcting my spelling mistake).

I'm still on the Magician. I know, I've been reading it for AGES. But I've had a busy week, and this weekend; I will be finishing it.
Also, my sister forgot my birthday (I know, cruel) a few months ago and yesterday she took me to a bookstore and these exact words: "Go. Nuts."
So, I got; Runemarks by Joanne Harris, ordered KOTW (HARDBACK!), and the rest of the Nicolas Flamel books. And cost my sister millions getting them. Mahaha. I'm so evil. :)

PS: Does anyone know how to put a picture on my profile? I can't seem to do it. I found a super cute photo and it is perfect for my personality.

I ended up having to hunt down second-hand (although new) hardback copies of the first and second book as they were out of print by the time I realised I wanted them; the others were still available as new. So the first book I have in original paperback, hardback, new design paperback and ebook... Sigh. But they're all so pretty.

Also, that sounds like a very good birthday present. :D

As for the profile picture - go to Your Account, sign in, scroll all the way down to Personalization -> click Your Public Profile, and then at least on mine there is a big yellow Edit Your Profile button right there towards the top. Click that, and you should have a Change photo and caption link in the top left hand side of the screen. You need to have an image saved on your computer to upload it.

I'm still on the Magician. By this point; I'll be finished in 2 years. : )

I finished Lies. The Gone series is growing on me, like a mutated fungus or something... I can't say I'm LOVING it or that it's going to be one of my favourite series ever, but it's keeping my attention and three books in, I am still engaged and want to know what's going to happen.

i finished up Playing Hurt and did enjoy it - but the ending was a bit ambiguous...

now i'm started I'm Not Her and Burn Bright

I've just started Grave Mercy - I had held off on getting this as I'm not a huge fan of the "I'm a WOMAN hear me ROA-EEK. MAN! QUIVER QUIVER" mentality in my heroines, but humph. Better than I expected thus far.

Amy - I really liked Grave Mercy. It was very different from most fantasy books for YA. I liked learning a bit about that time period too. Thought the main character was interesting. I am looking forward to more from this author. Just got Legacy Tril from Heather Brewer at the Public Library. I finished the First book of the Mercy series by Patricia Briggs, It was a good read. Nothing fantastic but I will def. read the rest of the series now.
