5.0 out of 5 stars The best of German rock n' roll of the 1980's
I first heard Bap in 1982 when I arrived in Germany as private in the US Army. The monster hit off this album was Verdamp lang her, which loosely translated into English means," Been here so Godamn long". Bap led by Wolfgang Niedecken have described as the German equivalent of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Influenced by Springsteen and Dylan, Bap...

3.0 out of 5 stars Humoristic and musical Germans
BAP is a German band singing in Kölsch which is the dialect spoken in Cologne (yes, where your eau de cologne was invented).

The band has a lot of humour and satire in its lyrics. But at the same time, they show high musical skills, and very diversified ones too.

»Für Usszeschnigge!« (it means »to cut out«, and the LP cover in fact shows paperdolls of the...

Influenced by Springsteen and Dylan, Bap created lively music that spoke to the irony and ambiguity of growing up in west germany in the 70's and 80's. You may not understand the lyrics but you will feel the heart and soul of this band if you listen to this great album.

5.0 out of 5 stars best cd by BAP, March 13, 2002

This record by BAP (meaning 'Daddy' in Kölsch) was produced in the heights of 'New German Wave' - music of the 80s. Whoever is interested in something different (well, guitar rock is something different these days) or German rock, this is the cd to go for. The most beautiful song is 'Jupp'. It's a bitter-sweet song about a homeless who dreams himself around the world -only to forget Stalingrad.

»Für Usszeschnigge!« (it means »to cut out«, and the LP cover in fact shows paperdolls of the band members and their instruments!) presents a wide range of rock'n'roll songs like the opener »Verdamp Lang Her«, the album's best track and one of BAP's biggest hits ever.

Other highlights are the reggae parody »Müsli Man«, the electronic rock'n'roll song »Südstadt Verzäll Nix« and the ballads like »Jraaduss«.
