I was wondering about the aspect ratio, too. It's the ONLY thing keeping me from buying what looks like an incredible deal. i'm hoping it's just a site gaff, but why would 20th century fox release abluray collection in an old TV format. i know that's not the original ration. The movies were filmed in Panavision, they should have a 2.35:1 ratio. Does anyone know?

one of the reviews (with like 14 comments as of now) has some replies that state is in fact are widescreen and it was an Amazon mistake in the description.

SkyKing says:
For this blu ray set, blu-ray.com states the aspect ratio is 2.35:1

I will check when I receive my set, but I'm expecting the original aspect ratio....

UPDATE **********************

Just received the Box Set...All movies are 2.35:1

Yup, I can testify to this -- all five films are in the proper 2.35:1 widescreen aspect-ratio. They've never been otherwise on Blu-Ray...in fact, to even put them out them at all in a cropped, "pan-and-scan" format would defeat the entire purpose of a high-definition BD release.

Someone at Amazon made a goof -- the 1970s TV series is the only Apes project to ever be shot and released in a native 1.33:1 (or 4:3) framing ratio.
