This was my first Brother purchase, and I was hesitant because I was used to Canon products. However, the salesman suggested it in answer to my search for a machine that would make lots of black & white copies cheaply. It has been a blessing~~ I sell a lot on ebay and make lots of copies, and running over to Office Depot for copies was getting expensive. This little machine is worth its weight in gold!! It makes the copies so fast you can't keep up with it! I buy laser cartridge replacements at Internet stores and get them as cheaply as $22.99, rather than pay the higher price at the office supply stores. Now I can get 2,000++ copies out of one laser print ink cartridge, it is truly amazing. The quality is great too. It is also a fax machine, but I don't use that function. You can enlarge and reduce on this machine, and that is also very handy. I heartily recommend this machine to anyone who wants a fast, trouble-free, quiet, efficient, economical, copy machine in their home. I have it connected to my computer, but it could be used free-standing as well.

I bought this just over a year ago. During the first tax season with my small business, I had to take it in for service, as it would not copy all of the sheets fed into it. There were always pages missing. A local service 'fixed' the machine and it still did not work properly. The hardware is made so cheaply, when I open and close the door on the ink cartridge it sound like I am breaking it. The machine squeaks when the sheets are being fed thru the top feed. It constantly misfeeds, jams(especially when printing envelopes), and now the ink is so incredibly dark with streaks on the printed/copied pages - it is horrible. Don't waste your money.
