5.0 out of 5 stars BEST cloth inserts ever!!! Now G-Diapers make sense

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really for a heavy wetter
My daughter soaks right through these. She's always feeling moist outside of the diaper. Using two keeps the moisture at bay, but then her diaper is beyond bulky. I've cut up a few receiving blankets and sewn them together to make my own doubler for now. It helps, but using old wash cloths folded into thirds works better. I've never had a problem getting them clean...

These inserts are great - they have micro fleece on the side that goes next to your baby's tush, so it stays soft and dry next to the skin, then they have a super absorbent hemp on the other side. I plan to buy a bunch more to use with all my pocket diapers as well as my g-diapers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the gDiaper System, August 24, 2011
By
William Gilmyers (Southern California) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
My wife and I have been very pleased with the G-Diapers system for our first child. It's nice not having to constantly buy (and dispose of) dozens of diapers every week. While the gBaby Bundle only comes with the disposable type inserts we also bought a few packs of the reusable kind and have used them almost exclusively for the first 4-weeks or so our daughters life. So far so good, no problem with leaks or spills.

Here's what my wife and I bought:

1) gBaby Bundle (Recommend) gDiapers gBaby Bundle, Newborn Diapers

2) 4 packs of the small (8-14lbs)gCloth inserts, 6 ct. (Recommend, could probably have gotten by with 3 packs, put this allows us a little more time between loads of laundry).

3)1 box of the gDiapers gCloth Liners, 105 ct. 1 box will last about two weeks, I'd recommend buying 3 or 4 boxes if you're going to go full-on with the reusable inserts. We put one in every diaper and they are a godsend. gDiapers gCloth Liners - 105 Count

We also bought a case of the flushable diaper refills, gDiapers Refill Case- Small (160 Count) and have found that to be unnecessary. These are handy to have around, but the amount in the gBaby Bundle is more than sufficient to last awhile, unless you'll not be using the reusable inserts.

The one product that G-Diapers does not really explain well is the optional "g-Cloth Liners" that sit on top of the reusable cloth inserts. The problem is that they use the term "liner" for a couple of different products which have almost exactly the same name. There are the "gDiapers Cloth Diaper Liners"- which are the snap in liners that go into the G-Pants and hold the diaper inserts, but there are also the "gDiapers gCloth Liners" which sit on top of the diaper.

Frankly, the "gCloth Liners" are great and really make the system work on a tidy, convenient way. They basically allow you to lift solid waste off of the liner and just drop it in the toilet. This presents you from having to rinse the reusable inserts (which would otherwise be covered in poop) before throwing them in the laundry. No fuss no muss. Probably goes without saying (but I will), you won't need these if you'll be using the disposable diaper inserts, as these can already go straight into the toilet.

The upfront investment on this was a little steep, but now we won't have to buy anything else (except perhaps a few more boxes of the liners, which are cheap) until she hits until she hits 15 lbs or so. I'm guessing a bit more expensive than just buying disposables, but not by much and none of the landfill clogging waste.

Very pleased with this system.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really for a heavy wetter, September 5, 2010

My daughter soaks right through these. She's always feeling moist outside of the diaper. Using two keeps the moisture at bay, but then her diaper is beyond bulky. I've cut up a few receiving blankets and sewn them together to make my own doubler for now. It helps, but using old wash cloths folded into thirds works better. I've never had a problem getting them clean. They seem to take a bit to dry, but I don't know if this is due to my washer/dryer combo (one machine) or not. Overall, I'd recommend these as long as your child isn't a heavy wetter. I think as my daughter gets older and less of a heavy wetter, they'll be fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love gDiapers!, March 13, 2010

I've been using these since my baby turned 3 months old in Fall 2008. She started in medium gDiapers, and eventually moved into large, so I've always used this size refills. I've always flushed the poopy ones, and thankfully, haven't had any issues with my toilet (on city sewer). In the warmer months, I compost the non-poopy ones.

Yes, it's true that the gDiaper snap-in liner often gets dirty unless it's a really solid poop, but it washes off easily enough. I just invested in some of the gCloth refills to use on days that we're not out and about so much, but I still find the disposable refills convenient for when we are on the move.

I feel so good about not throwing hundreds of diapers into landfills, not to mention that I'm not enclosing my baby's bum in all kinds of chemicals and plastic. I really think that my baby has experienced less diaper rash since these are so breathable. I have another baby on the way, and he/she will definitely be a gBaby too.

Another gDiaper success story: A fellow mom was using plastic disposables (boo) and was complaining that overnight, her son would pee so much that the diaper often exploded and all the gel stuff would seep all the way into the footies of his pjs. So, I mentioned that I've never had that issue with gDiapers overnight up to 12 hours (I usually use 1 1/2 liners at night). She went out and bought a starter kit the next day, and was happy to report that there are no more explosions! If only I could convince her to use them all day too!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT product if used as directed, September 1, 2011

This review is from: gDiapers Cloth Diaper Inserts, Medium-XLarge (6 Count) (Health and Beauty)
I have used gDiapers from the beginning with my now three month old daughter and we love them. The newborn diapers are a little tricky since the liner is built in and you have to wash after every poop, but once she reached the small size with the snap in liner, it's been smooth sailing . Tips: 1) You will have to change diapers more often, as stated by the company, cloth is never as absorbant as disposables. 2) if your baby is sensitive, use gRefills for naps and nights as they wick moisture a little better. 3) your liners WILL get messy with poops (especially breastfed babies) so buy an extra 6 pack 4) if you change promptly and often you will rarely have to wash covers. 5) ALWAYS make sure the liner is tucked into baby's groin like underwear. Check the website for help if you're getting leaks.

We had way more leaks with the few disposables we used.

Great product-absorbs well! For overnight wear, make a "hemp sandwich." Place the tan sides together and it's double the protection!

5.0 out of 5 stars gCloths are definitely worth it., February 17, 2011

This review is from: gDiapers Cloth Diaper Inserts, Medium-XLarge (6 Count) (Health and Beauty)
After using fold-able cotton cloths for 6 months I finally tried gCloths with our gDiapers. We had used disposable inserts occasionally, mostly for trips and at night since they are more absorbent. That gets expensive quick! We found that the gCloths (when washed 6 times) were much more absorbent than other cloths and they wash better. They are so much faster at laundry-folding time, since they're pre-sized. Possibly the best part - they are so soft, she loves them! I recommend them to anyone using gDiapers or any diaper cover. Of course buying them here saves you 20% off the price, that's the best I found for new ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars gDiapers are GREAT!, January 30, 2011

This review is from: gDiapers Cloth Diaper Inserts, Medium-XLarge (6 Count) (Health and Beauty)
I have been using these for 2.5 months now. My 16 month old son is a heavy wetter, and these work great! We have 3 covers, 6 cloth inserts and 10 liners. Daily we use the 6 and usually use 2ish plain old disposables as well. We rinse liners and cloth inserts well with hot water in the tub immediately (if left set in tub a few hours no big deal), then leave them hang over the edge till night when I do laundry (I throw them in the washer right before I fill up the tub for bath, and wash the tub out before I put the stopper in). I find the liners are plenty clean that way, but if they get poop on them I will use a little hand soap (liners only!). I wash and dry the cloth inserts, and covers with all the other clothes, every night. We use arm&hammer either free and clear or the clear/green bottle and no dryer sheets or softeners. The diapers have held up just fine!! Still very absorbent. Just make sure all velcro is closed on itself (including bibs! lol). We also use kushies flushable liners (the kind on the roll), cut in half and positioned right they work great. Might still get a little poop on the side, but even the hubby agrees its no big deal. Wipe with some tp and flush away!
Our trash is less, our trash stinks WAY less!!! This is totally worth the initial investment.
We have still been using an overnight disposable diaper at night, but I believe I'm going to try using 2 cloth inserts and see how that does, this will mean buying another pack of inserts, and probably another cover which might just mean no disposables for us, period! WELL we do use them when we leave the house... haven't gone there yet. : )

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product and easy to use, September 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We started using the gdiapers on week 3 after the little one's belly button fell off. They are great--very easy to use, absorbent, and wash easily. The only thing to keep in mind is that the diapers do smell and you may want to wash daily/every other day depending on how many you use. We bought a starter pack of 12 and go through about 6-8 in a day, and use disposable at night. They are sturdy, cute and not as bulky as you would think, although there is some bulk. You can always use a towel, or other cloth diaper inserts when you're washing your set...just FYI.

I am really enjoying my gDiaper inserts. I bought them to go in my GroBaby diapers as a trimmer alternative to the GroBaby inserts. They work great! Easy to wash, sun dry them to remove stains, and they are great for daytime when diaper changes are more regular. I find they are not absorbant enough for night time use which is why I gave them only 4 stars. Even when I doubled them they did not hold enough to get through the night. Overall though, a great product.
